General description

  • Main home
Restored flat in a traditional Andalusian neighbor patio. Two floors: Downstairs is an open floor plan with kitchen, dining, and living rooms together, and opens to the shared patio. Upstairs there are 2 bedrooms and one bathroom. The flat has marble floors throughout. It is located in a quiet neighborhood just outside the compact center of Seville, and in walking distance to Plaza de España, Nervion plaza, Barrio Santa Cruz, and downtown. There are 2 Sevici (bike sharing) stops in the neighborhood, and bike lanes that take you easily to all of the city's neighborhoods and sights.

The dog's park to run around in is just a 5 minute walk (or less if you're a quick walker!), and there is a great restaurant/bar there too. Marco also enjoys morning and late evening walks around the neighborhood or to other nearby parks and monuments!

Needs and Animals

  • My pets
  • A dog
We have a small 10-year-old male dog, Marco, who is some sort of mix between Terrier, Dachshund, and maybe others. He goes out three times a day, one long walk (usually to the park to run around), and 2 short ones. He takes pills in the morning and at night, and he does love to jump up on people and lie on top of you! (We let him on the couch, and sometimes on the beds as well - mostly in the morning after the alarm clock goes off.) We also have outdoor plants that should be watered every two days and indoor plants that should be watered once a week. Please check the mail, too.

In case of pet emergency, our vet is 2 blocks away, and he speaks some English.

Our house is very close to the center of Seville, as well as the airport, Metro, tram, local train station, and national train station. There are taxi stops nearby too, and Sevici (local bike sharing company) points. We have a traditional Market a few blocks from our house, as well as 3 other small grocery stores, a pharmacy, some nice restaurants, banks, 3 parks, a bookstore, and other day-to-day amenities. Historic sites, like the Cathedral, the Alcázar, the Torre de Oro, Plaza de España, Triana, and other areas are within walking / biking distance. Going in the other direction, away from the city, you can visit the city's mall at Nervion Plaza. Our place has the advantage of being close-in, but in a less-hectic area than the pure center of Seville.

In the summer, people are active in the mornings and at night, due to the intense afternoon heat. Businesses tend to close after 2/3pm, but bars open up again and the streets start filling up around 9/10 pm, when the sun is going down.

Comfort and Luxury

  • 4 rooms of which 2 bedrooms
  • Contemporary

We've got books, TV, and a violin. Books are in English and Spanish, and include a couple of guidebooks for Seville and Spain. We've also got books in a range of topics including history, action, classic novels, poetry, cultural studies, and more. The tv has basic Spanish tv connected, as well as Netflix and Amazon Prime. We've also got a collection of DVDs, both in Spanish and in English. Lastly, I've got a violin that I don't play often, but it's here and available for those who have some experience! (Just be careful about hours so as not to wake up the neighbors - no playing at night or during siesta time.)

There are also two yoga mats - one for the house, and one near the entrance to the community's rooftop. I often do yoga at sunset, and you're welcome to do the same!

Tourism and Leisure

  • City
  • Beach
  • Museum
  • Theme park
  • Cinema
  • Theater / Opera
Seville is full of wonderful secrets and also close to many great places! In the city, you can find palaces, museums, restaurants, and much more (including places where Game of Thrones was filmed!). Nearby you can find the Roman ruins of Italica (30 minutes) and across the street from the ruins, enjoy a local specialty, arroz caldoso. The beaches of Huelva and Cádiz are just over an hour away. One of the largest national parks in Spain, Doñana, is 45 minutes away, and there you can see flamingoes and other wildlife native to the region. Also, the Vias Verdes (Green paths) of the region make for great hiking and outdoor adventures.

It is easy to spend a week just enjoying the streets of Seville, it's restaurants, plazas, the Alcázar, the Cathedral, the Museum of Contemporary Art, The Museum of Fine Arts, etc. Also, you can kayak on the river!

From Thursday 2020

To Tuesday 2020

firm dates

Both of these dates, Jose's flights are in the morning. Madeleine will not be here when the house sit begins or ends because she will be in the USA a little longer, visiting family and friends. Jose and Marco (dog) will be here, and potentially Jose's son, since Jose and his young teenage son will be flying out and back together. We hope for at least one day of overlap between your arrival and Jose's departure, so you can get to know the dog, and ask any questions about Marco/the house/etc.

Home-sits over
