Our home is a contemporary single-storey 3 Bedroom home in suburban Melbourne. We are 16 kms from Melbourne CBD in the eastern suburbs. We have public transport options within walking distance/

We live a typical urban lifestyle here. The house and neighbourhood have everything we could need. Our favourite coffee shop is a gentle 10 min amble of 700m metres to Miss Peppercorn. A bus and train or tram ride will get you into Melbourne city in under an hour. Melbourne itself is nearing 200 years old and now renowned for its coffee passion, its dining, its arts and its dedication to sport! Melbournians will turn out for most sports without much enticement! Another 40 mins drive out from Blackburn is the gorgeous Yarra Valley, a renowned wine district. Half an hour's drive and you can be at one of Melbourne's bay beaches, though of course the local swimming centres are about 5 mins drive away. The Mornington Peninsula is an hour's drive away. Art galleries are to be found in all those places. Dining out is a regular sport but the well equipped kitchen at our home gives plenty of space to cook to your heart's content.

Comfort and Luxury

  • One floor
  • 9 rooms of which 3 bedrooms
  • Contemporary
  • Terrace / Balcony
  • Television / DVD library
  • Air conditioning
  • Fitted kitchen
We have a beautiful north-facing courtyard and large open spaces in the home. The hub of the house is the large kitchen/dining space that has a large family room opening off it. All those spaces are extraordinarily light and airy thanks to the courtyard on which they all face.
The kitchen/dining area, the family room and the main BR all have tv. We have wired and wireless internet available throughout the house. We live next door to a park which is both an off-lead dog's park as well as including a decent-sized children's playground.

Tourism and Leisure

  • City
  • Cinema
  • Theater / Opera
The must-dos are:
- visit the National Gallery of Victoria in Melb City which always a has a BIG winter exhibition of international standard apart from the regular exhibitions.
- attend a sporting event at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (affectionately known as the Gee) From March through till September that would be an Aussie rules football match. It's not only a tribal experience to watch the crowd and hear it roar around the stadium, but the football is fast-paced with lots of action and cute athletic young men in shorts! ;-) In summer that might be a cricket match or attending the Australian Open Tennis Championships. But the Tennis isn't at the Gee!
- visit the Yarra Valley or Mornington Peninsula wineries or both.
- head down to Portsea (Mornington Peninsula) and take a ferry across to the opposite Bellarine Peninsula and back. The dolphins in the bay are often to be seen following along!
- attend one of the many musicals ballet and opera performances in the city
- drink coffee everywhere you go and vie with the locals in finding the best coffee outside Italy, France or wherever!
- eat out frequently as you will find any kind of cuisine in Melbourne!
- take the kids to Scienceworks where they can try all manner of things and learn without realising
- drive to Healesville and visit the Healesville Sanctuary where you can meet many of the indigenous fauna of Australia.Yes kangaroos and koala bears are a feature!

Nomador Stopover

We have a spare bedroom in our home. Equipped with a Queen-sized bed and a few steps from a large bathroom with an enormous bath for soaking in! We would be happy to offer the use of the room for stopovers for Nomador members in transit. This applies from November 2017 to end Feb 2018. We will be heading to Europe ourselves in March 2018 and will probably not return till early 2019
