General description

  • Main home
Open style "glamour camping", (full kitchen, complete bath, hot water, Internet, etc.) on 6 acre organic farm and reforestation project. Simple, but pleasant. Beautiful plantings, views, care for 2 sweet dogs, some enclosed chickens and 2 greenhouses. Lots of quiet and privacy in a remote but safe area of non touristy Costa Rica.

Needs and Animals

  • Many plants
  • 2 dogs
  • Farm animals
1 dog: Lily, a reformed Street dog of indeterminate sausage breed. Affectionate and mostly obedient. Luna is a 5 month old shepherd-cattle dog mix, spayed puppy, very sweet, and intelligent. They are both fed twice a day, with playtime, walks, treats and maybe some play training too. A bath if they get stinky and tick checks would be great, although they will have flea and tick meds before I leave. The chickens are in an enclosed house and yard, and get food, water and non citrus kitchen scraps daily. Sometimes they even lay between 2 and 5 eggs per day .

Practical life

  • Isolated
  • 150 - 500 m² (1590 - 5290 sq. ft.)
  • More than 1000 m² (1060 sq. ft.)
  • Bus stop
  • Small shop / Minimarket
  • Doctor
  • Pharmacy
  • Hospital
  • Veterinarian
  • Internet
  • Television
  • Washing machine
  • Ground floor
  • Disabled access
Relaxed, quiet, lots of birds to watch, hammocks to read or nap in, perfect climate, around 70 at night to 85 (degrees Fahrenheit) mid day. very off the beaten path, great for people who like solitude, writers, artists, meditators. Eat organic food from the greenhouses, pick oranges and bananas off the trees. The road is about 2 miles from the hard road and bus stop, but I would introduce the house sitters to neighbors with cars, to help them get to town.

Comfort and Luxury

  • 2 floors
  • 4 rooms of which 2 bedrooms
  • Contemporary
  • Car parking available
  • Landscaped garden
  • Veranda
  • Television / DVD library
  • Book library
  • Art and music
The house is artist-designed, with ceramic mosaic murals around. The decoration, if you want to call it that, is "garden". Additional things in the house include electronic Keyboard and guitar, DVD collection for computer, books, juicer and dehydrator, in addition to regular kitchen appliances. The farm is full of food - there are bananas, oranges, berries to pick, hammocks, comfortable but not fancy open air living.

Tourism and Leisure

  • Mountain
  • Theme park
View of the Las Tablas Range and the International Parque La Amistad. 40 minutes to the world class Wilson Botanical Garden, La Casona indigenous reserve, and some hot (warm) Springs. a few decent restaurants. but this is the real Costa Rica, not a tourist destination.

flexible dates

Would like sitters to arrive a couple days early, so I can show them all the way things work, and introduce them to neighbors and the town. September 15th is the National Day of Independence, and it is a fun introduction to the town and the culture that I am happy to share.

Home-sits over
