General description

  • Main home
Remote but not isolated home in rural farming area 15 minutes from Ibarra and 40 minutes from Cotacachi, a major expat community. Weather is perfect year round. Neighborhood is Spanish speaking and very friendly and safe. 2 km from main road to catch a bus.

Needs and Animals

  • My pets
  • 2 dogs
We have a 13-year-old Shihtzu who is practically invisible but he needs special food and regular bathing.
There is an outside dog that is our neighbors but stays with us most of the time. Also, another neighbor's dog tends to rely on us for food. Those dogs only require twice a day feeding. The outside dog that stays with us is a Boxer and loves to go for walks, if you are so inclined.
There is some watering to do in the garden.

The countryside is relaxing, a haven for peace. The views are spectacular and the weather is pleasant year round. It is very comfortable and has a wonderful kitchen for those who enjoy cooking.
15 minutes from a large city, Ibarra, that has plenty of shopping and all of the amenities of a large city. Close to hot springs areas and hiking. 40 minutes from Cotacachi, a quaint little town where a lot of expats live so you can have other expats to mingle with, if desired.

We have exceptional internet for living in the country of Ecuador. We have a variety of DVDs available, also. There is a garage with a terrace on top that has 360 degree views, including two volcanoes.

Tourism and Leisure

  • Mountain
There are hot springs nearby. Otavalo and Cotacachi are two communities to explore with a lot of shopping in open air markets and Cotacachi specializes in leather goods. Peguche Falls is close to Otavalo. Cotacachi has a lot of expats and there are activities regularly scheduled with them. There is tremendous networking available through them.

From Tuesday 2015

To Monday 2015

flexible dates

Our dates are not yet firm. We will be out of the country a little longer than 90 days but there is a 90-day Visa for traveler's to Ecuador without any requirements so you would not want to stay more than that, unless you wanted to pursue a longer Visa.
We would like sitters to come one day early to get acquainted and show everything.
