General description

  • Main home
Small chateau in a tiny village in a remote part of France. The building and property were designated a historic landmark; the architecture ranges from Gothic-Medieval to Renaissance. Parts of the property are unrestored and creepy, while others are modern and comfortable. Lots of winding stairs.

Needs and Animals

  • My pets
  • A dog
  • Rodents
  • Farm animals
The most important requirement is to take care of the animals (goats, sheep, rabbits chickens, dog). This means the sitter cannot be absent from the property for more than 24 hours or the animals will suffer.

Sitter should have their own vehicle. Balsac and surrounding areas are difficult to access with public transportation. There is, however, a bus that can come to the village by reservation for transport to and from Rodez. We have bicycles that you can use.

We will supply utilities and amenities, not to exceed our normal usage for the same period. You will need to supply your own food.
The house has reliable internet throughout. We’ve never used our television.

We would like you to stay one or two nights before our departure and one or two nights after our return to ensure everything goes/went smoothly.
We’ll leave our contact information, but we expect you to be resourceful if you cannot reach us or if we cannot help you remotely.

We have written a detailed document for you...that we can send you by email once we've made contact.

We enjoy the tranquility of life in the country while we are in the middle of a tiny village. The village has a restaurant/bar, but that's it. The closest city is more of a town (Rodez) that is cute but not touristy. We are happy to stay in our walled retreat for weeks without leaving...enjoying a cosy fire, cooking exotic meals in our awesome kitchen, playing with the animals, painting or drawing, listening to music as loud as we wish, working on countless restoration projects, reading history books...Taking long hikes to cute villages, going wine tasting, riding bikes along country trails, visiting the three museums in town, eating at cafes at nearby villages...
