It's all about the dogs for us. We have a five-year old French Bulldog (Lady) and a 6-month old Jack Russell (Charlie). Lady unfortunately has very limited use of her rear legs following a disc hernia 18 months ago. She doesn't appear to know that she is partially paralysed - she's extremely bright, scoots around the house at an amazing speed when she wants to (when not sleeping!), and enjoys walks out. However her condition does mean that her rear end needs to be supported in a sling for walks and toiletting, and she needs picking up to come back into the house. It's quite an easy knack to learn, although perhaps not best recommended for people with back problems! We take her into the garden for her needs every 4 hours or so during the day, and we walk her once a day. Charlie is still a puppy of course, pretty fully house-trained and he is happy bounding around the garden plus at least two 20 mins walk a day.
