General description

  • Main home
Two-story, two bedroom townhouse with garden/patio in quiet neighborhood in charming Maastricht. Some lovely nature around the house, but well connected to the city center via bus.

Needs and Animals

  • My pets
  • 2 cats
  • Fish
Our big, lovable, Labrador-esque dog, Charlie, is also going on holiday, so your main responsibility would be the cats. Sammy and Nala, our cats, are very sweet but rather shy and hands off. After a few days they should warm up to you a bit, and then they can be quite demanding for attention around breakfast and dinner. They mostly need someone willing to play butler and open the door so they can go in and out. Especially Nala gets cranky if she's been stuck inside too long (and only she knows what how long is "too long").

We have some fish in a fish tank who need feeding once a day. Otherwise, it's a matter of keeping the plants watered and taking out the trash.

Maastricht is a cute, old city (dating back to the Roman empire) in the south of the Netherlands. It's known for it's shopping and good food, and there are some lovely spots to walk and/or picnic in nice weather. We are also close to Germany and Belgium, connected to Aachen and Luik/Liege by public transport. Our house is in a quiet neighborhood, well-connected to the city center via bus (about a 15 minute ride). We also live close to a small nature reserve, where you can enjoy a walk along the river, with Charlie ;) The surrounding area is great for bikers.

There is a supermarket, drug store, and a snack shop (fries and other fried food) in the neighborhood, so necessities are close by. There is free parking in our neighborhood.

Maastricht is truly a charming city, with a lot to offer to a variety of visitors. The surrounding area is lovely for hiking and biking, and there are many a castle or chateau to visit for coffee or brunch, but there are also beautiful places to walk in Maastricht (through the old ENCI quarry, over St. Pietersberg, through the city park along the old city wall). The city has a history dating back at least to the Roman Empire, and its home to a few museums. One of its best selling points, according to us, is the food. Most restaurants do a good job of it here in Maastricht, but we are happy to share our favorites. And vlaai (local version of pie) is delicious.
