General description

  • Main home
Restored old farmhouse with meadows and some forest land with stunning views over the lake and mountains. It is completely quiete but only a 5 minute walk to the village of Madeirã, where there are two cafes.

Needs and Animals

  • My pets
  • Big garden
  • Vegetable patch
  • A dog
  • A cat
  • Farm animals
We have one dog, Fani a 6 year old German Shepherd, who is very tranquil but needs daily walks. A cat, Pirata, who really needs no attention except feeding. We also have chickens and guinea fowl. These again are fairly simple to look after, although the guinea fowl are really stupid animals. The very important thing with them is to lock them up at night or else a fox will get them. All our animals need feeding 2x daily. Fani gets meat and rice and although I will leave a lot in the freezer for her, the house sitter will need to cook up more meat from time to time. Our grounds are large and we do ask that a bit of external work is done, such as weeding and tending the vegetable garden.

Practical life

  • Isolated
  • Less than 50 m² (530 sq. ft.)
  • More than 1000 m² (1060 sq. ft.)
  • Bus stop
  • Small shop / Minimarket
  • Internet
  • Washing machine
  • Deep freeze
  • Ground floor
  • No disabled access
If you love peace and quiete then this is the spot for you. The life is very tranquil, however we are close to the village if you need supplies. Our house has been renovated by ourselves and although it has everything you could need, many of the systems are home built and thus need getting a bit used to. Heating is via a large wood burner which also heats the hot water when overcast. We will supply fire wood. It would help having someone practical as being a small farm type environment there are often little bits that need attending to.

Comfort and Luxury

  • 2 floors
  • 3 rooms of which one bedroom
  • Regional
  • Terrace / Balcony
  • Book library
We do not have a television but have loads of good books to read which you are welcome to use while with us.

Tourism and Leisure

  • Countryside
A vehicle would really be needed as we are remote with no public transport from our local village. There is so much so see in the area if you like things like hiking, historical sites and getting to know traditional life styles of the rural Portuguese people.
