You'll have your choice of caravan or bell tent for sleeping and cooking, along with our outdoor bathroom which includes a granite hot shower and composting toilet. The garden will be full by the time you arrive so you'll be able to enjoy fresh veg every day.
Our house is mid-renovation, so whilst the windows and doors are installed, it's not quite habitable yet. That's not to say you can't store your stuff securely in there, or hang out in the cool lounge on hot days. You can even move into the house if sleeping in the caravan or bell tent doesn't take your fancy.
The caravan is sat on a wooden deck and set in a fenced yard (perfect for dogs!) amongst potted plants and a flower beds. It contains a sink with hot and cold water, a fridge/freezer, and an oven with 4 burner gas hob. The caravan has a small double bed at one end, and two sofas with table at the other end (the sofas can also turn into 'mega-bed' if you prefer). Electricity and lights throughout. The deck, which has an awning too, has a sofa and a couple of chairs for lounging in the shade.
The bell tent, set in the food garden, is next a pergola for shady hangouts. There's a bed with mattress in there, and electricity and a light.
Avo: our local village is delightful. A 15 minutes walk down the track (or a 5 minute drive) leads you into the picturesque village of Avo, where the local 'junta' bring in sand, shade umbrellas and even a lifeguard to the river beach for the summer months. Avo has a small bakery/bar, a bank, and three small supermarkets to get groceries and other essentials.
Surrounding area: there are many quiet river beaches, mountain walks, ruins, waterfalls, markets and restaurants in the local area. We can show you all the best spots!
A word of caution: life on a quinta comes with its challenges. These include composting your own waste, swapping over the water system when the mine runs dry (we have a bore hole too), fixing fences as needed to protect the garden from the wild boar, and helping the neighbours out with their unruly donkey as the need arises. The ideal house-sitter will be a robust problem solver with some experience with gardening and fixing things when they break.
