General description

  • Main home
We have a spacious, second-floor two-bed with a large wraparound balcony overlooking San Antonio Bay in the Cala de Bou area on the west coast of Ibiza. The apartment has fantastic views across the bay and enjoys some spectacular sunsets. The nearest beach is just 2 minutes' walk away. There is a large, open-plan lounge/diner with a small but well-stocked kitchen (also open-plan). Our room is a double and the guest room a twin (with trundle bed). There are two bathrooms, both with shower, no bath. The apartment block has secure parking and a lift.
There's plenty to do here in winter, with beautiful walking routes all over the island and lots of lovely beaches nearby - even if it's not necessarily warm enough for sunbathing, it's usually sunny and dry enough to have a picnic! There are lots of shops, bars and restaurants within walking distance of the apartment, particularly in San Antonio ,which is a pleasant 20-30 minute walk around the bay or a 5-10 minute drive away.

Needs and Animals

  • My pets
  • Animals with specific needs
  • A cat
We have an adorable Russian Blue rescue cat called Gertie, who was born completely blind - but you would never know it to see her. She does all the things "normal" cats do including chasing balls and catching bugs, and needs no help to find her food or water bowl or litter tray. As it takes her a while to get used to new places, we prefer to have a sitter stay with her at home while we are away to keep her company, rather than put her in a cattery. She needs feeding twice a day and her litter tray scooped out once a day and changed completely every 5-7 days. She is a house cat but we have erected fencing around our balcony so she can go out there during the day, but we bring her inside if we are going out. She is very friendly, super playful and mischievous and loves human company; everyone who meets her falls in love with her :-)

Winter is the best time of year in Ibiza as it's quiet without all the tourists but the weather is still good enough to explore the island's pretty white villages, enjoy long walks, lunches at some great restaurants and stunning sunsets!

In terms of amenities, there are several large supermarkets in easy reach of the house by car, and some smaller grocery shops within walking distance. There is also a year-round farmers' market about 10 minutes' drive away on a Friday morning selling local and organic produce. If you're without a car, there are regular bus services into San Antonio, San José and over to Ibiza Town

We love to cook and although the kitchen is quite small it is well-stocked. We also have a kettle barbecue and a gas ring for making paellas on on the balcony. The block is quiet with mainly Spanish neighbours and, although in summer the area has many tourists, there is a year-round population here with plenty of places still open and lots to do!

Comfort and Luxury

  • One floor
  • One room of which 2 bedrooms
  • Regional
  • Terrace / Balcony

We have a smart TV with all the sports, movie and news channels. We also have a DVD player with a selection of English/American and Spanish films, plus some games like Uno, Bananagrams, Snakes & Ladders and a puzzle or two. We have a small book collection (most of them are back in our main home in the UK), with a few cookbooks and some local guides - including a couple of walking guides. We also have two single-speed road bikes which would be suitable for cycling into San Antonio and back but not going off-road or on country paths! If you have a clean and valid driving licence and are over 26 years old, you would also have access to our car, a 3-door Renault Clio (automatic).

Tourism and Leisure

  • Sea
  • Countryside
  • Forest
  • Beach
  • Cinema
Ibiza's music and club scene is very much a summer thing and the island becomes a completely different place in winter. Visitors at this time of year tend to be into nature and the outdoors. There are countless walking routes all over the island, which take you along the coast and up onto rugged and dramatic clifftops, plus inland into the forests.
There are also lots of pretty little towns and villages to explore up in the north of the island, including Santa Inés, with its famous almond trees, which blossom over the winter, and San Juan, which has a year-round Sunday market.
If you're a foodie, there are many great restaurants open year-round and serving delicious local produce. A spa day at Atzaro is also recommended - it includes a set menu lunch and one of the best massages on the island.
There's also a very cool retro cinema in nearby San An, which shows films in "versión original" (ie in English with Spanish subtitles) in two showings on a Tuesday evening, with films dubbed into Spanish on other days of the week. Tickets are only 6 euros and they do great fresh popcorn too!

From Monday 2020

To Sunday 2021

flexible dates

Our dates are not yet firm as we are waiting to see where we will able to travel to and whether we will be able to get back to the UK before we book tickets. However we are planning on being away for at least a week and hopefully two. As we have a spare room, if our plans change we would still be able to host someone for at least part of this period.
