General description

  • Main home
Small stone cottage in a remote vallye paradise with a wonderful garden, good hiking all around to beauitful abandoned villages, waterfalls and and swimming spots.
We have wonderful big garden that needs looking after but will be in full food mode during this month, chickens, three dogs and a cat.
Completely off grid, solar electricity and dry (compost) toilet.

Needs and Animals

  • My pets
  • Animals with specific needs
  • Many plants
  • Big garden
  • Vegetable patch
  • 3 dogs
  • A cat
  • Farm animals
We have three dogs, all crosses all medium sized. The largest is a Belgian shepherd.
We have a lovely big garden down at the bottom fo the land by the stream and a nice small kitchen garden by the house, which both need attention.
The gardens are a mix of annuals and perennials/forest garden spaces so we would really like someone that knows plants.
The property is down a road that is pretty rough and so the ideal person would have a four by four. We have a Renault Kangoo, not four by four and we get in and out all right but its also perfectly pleasant to partk out the top and walk down. It's a stunningly beautiful valley.

This place is a real retreat, an escape. The hiking around here is incredible and there are great places to swim not far either. It's a low energy life style but there are plenty of books and board games to be enjoyed but the real joy is just lying in the hammocks by the spring, maybe with a good book and and a dog or cat sharing the hammock with you!

This is a place for people who want a getaway, a bit of isolation, peace, quiet and natural beauty.

Comfort and Luxury

  • One floor
  • 3 rooms of which one bedroom
  • Traditional
  • Book library
  • Art and music
WE have a great library full of books relevant to the neo-rural lifestyle as well as literature, politics, economics, history and many other topics. The majoriy of the library is in English but there are also books in Galizan (galego), Spanish, and a couple in French.

We also have a splendid board game collection, games for social events/party games, creative games, strategic games. You will NOT find monopoly nor risk nor anything else like that. It's a 'euro-game' or designer game collection. The best well known ones we have are Ticket to Ride ( in many varieties, Carcassonne, Settlers of Catan, Agricola and Power Grid.

Tourism and Leisure

  • Mountain
  • Forest
  • Museum
  • Cinema
We live in the interior of Galiza, not far from O Courel, an incredibly beautiful and unkown mountainous region with stunning local architecture. The dramatic canyon de Sil can be walked to from the house, it's a beautiful hike, but it's also worh a long drive up and down the canyon, a bit further a long. Ourense and Lugo are two medeival cities a forty five minute drive a way, Santiago de Compostela, the famous end of the Camiño de compostela is very close and a you can also make a longer day trip to some very beautiful and quiet beaches. Galiza is a wonderful country with lots to explore.
