General description

  • Main home
First floor apartment in a beautiful quiet area right outside Bern, Switzerland. It’s very close to the bus and the river and the Gurten mountain. In the summer you can swim in the river and hike the Gurten. The city is close by and full of great shops and food and concerts during the summertime. It’s a quick bus ride to the Bern Banhof which can take you anywhere in Switzerland by train. And since we have a cat, it’s no problem for you to leave her all day. She has an automatic food dispenser and a water fountain.

Our apartment is on the ground floor of a lovely building. We have lots of space, WiFi, tv, nice bed, full kitchen, laundry is free etc. We also have a balcony terrace and it leads out to the garden/backyard area. We have very friendly neighbors who keep to their own business but will say hello whenever you pass them by. We are just in love with our quiet little slice of heaven. And did I mention our sweet kitty? She needs a cat sitter while we go on vacation. She’s not super lovey dovey but she will enjoy your company. All we ask is that you check on her daily or every two days, and that you make sure her fountain has water and that her food hopper is full. Also the dreaded cat box. She’s a dainty lady so it’s not so bad, but every 4 days we’d like you to clean the box and toss it.

That’s it! If you are someone that likes being around a cat and wants to explore and live in Bern Switzerland for a couple weeks, then you will love our charming apartment. Contact me!

Needs and Animals

  • My pets
  • A cat
We expect you to take care of our cat for us, get our mail, and water a couple plants for us. We also expect you to not let our cat outside. She will try and get out but please don’t let her out. She does not play nice with the neighbor cats. We also expect you to keep the house tidy and not make a mess or ruin any of our things!

Our cat is really sweet. She’s about 6. She doesn’t bite or scratch and she won’t be wanting to lie on you. She keeps to herself. Please fill her water fountain to the fill line and make sure her food hopper is full and that it is coming out. The hopper is set to release food three times a day. Because of this, you don’t have to be home all day, even once a day is ok. Also we expect you to clean her litter box every 4 days or so. It shouldn’t be too bad as she is a dainty lady. We have a few plants that could use water maybe once or twice. Nothing crazy. And just to get the mail every other day or every couple of days. For some reason we get mad adverts in out mailbox and it's stuffed every couple of days. We expect you to be around to check in on the cat. Leaving her for the day or overnight is totally fine.

The house is easy to live in and look after. It’s very quiet. Occasionally I’ll hear my neighbors but they and the surrounding area are usually very quiet. The grocery store is just a block or so down the street and it is open most hours. Switzerland is clean and very safe. People are very friendly and helpful. Bern has a very laidback attitude and atmosphere. No one is in a hurry and everyone is very friendly. Summertime is usually a very nice time to be outdoors and by the river. Swimming in the river in summer is a cultural birthright. Everyone brings their waterbag and jumps in when it gets too hot.

We are both opera singers. So our house is fitted with a piano to practice. We are happy to set you up with that if you like to play. We love to relax on our glorious big couch and play video games on our projector. In our living room we have a nice round table with four chairs to eat meals. We also have an antique bar in the living room with all glasses and bar implements needed. Our guest room is equipped with one guest bed and a tv where you can play video games and watch Netflix. We have a decent library and some games as well. The terrace is lovely to have breakfast or a smoke if you're into that. It comes with an awning that you can roll in and out. The terrace overlooks our nice garden and grill area that we share with out neighbors. Our kitchen is equipped with a brand new oven and electric stovetop range and the dishwasher is only a couple years old. we have a microwave, toaster, and tea kettle; all brand new appliances. We also have nice new pots and pans to cook food and we even have a Crockpot if that's your thing.

Swimming in the river is a must in summer. It is a very fast river so please only do so if you are a good swimmer and always swim around others. Since it’s Switzerland, we recommend you go to the mountains. With a quick train ride you are able to hike and enjoy the Swiss alps. Schynigge Platte, First, and Grindelwald are spectacular in summer. As is Oeschinensee. I can recommend many more places to hike and visit. Switzerland is not a large country and you can get pretty much anywhere by train. You can toboggan down the Gurten right behind the house. It’s lovely to hike up there or to take the little train car for the day. Up top is a restaurant and a giant field where you can sit on a blanket in the sun or shade. From there on a clear day you can see the Alps in all of they glory. In Bern there is so much to do. Restaurants, museums, history tours. You can check out where Einstein lived when he developed his theory of relativity. You can also check out the famous clock tower called the Zytglogge. Again, there's so much to do, you just let me know what your interested in and we are happy to suggest all the best activities and destinations.
