General description

  • Main home
1920s duplex in a quiet and secluded part of Philadelphia. Nestled in the forrest we have access to many trails and hiking, while also being close to the bustling city center. The train station is a 5 minute walk from our home and it takes 25 minutes to reach center city.

Needs and Animals

  • My pets
  • Many plants
  • A dog
  • 2 cats
We have three animals living in our home that all have their own unique personalities. Our dog, Penny, is 5 pounds and a total cuddle bug. She needs one walk a day and is fairly easy to watch! We have two cats, Linus and Lewis. Linus is very timid and will take awhile to warm up to new people. Lewis on the other hand is extremely smart and always into something. He loves going on his harness and exploring outside.

I like to say we have the best of both worlds. Our home is in the neighborhood of Mount Airy in Philadelphia. We are within 5 minutes walking to Wissahickon Park which is a massive forrest with a river and many different trail heads. In our neighborhood we have delicious restaurants, a brewery, a small but adorable organic grocery store, and. a few locally owned store fronts. Our neighborhood is very liberal and welcoming. We have mostly older neighbors who are quiet and kind. When we want to explore the city more there is a train station a 5 minute walk away. From here you can take a 20-25 minute train ride into the city where you can visit historical sites, countless museums, restaurants, bars, breweries and more! You can easily take the local train to the Amtrak station and visit New York City within two hours.
We love our home and hope you do too! Philadelphia is a colorful and bustling city with so much to offer.

There are so many things to do within two hours of our home. Below I have listed some of my favorite activities to do on my free days:
-A long walk down Kelly drive to Boathouse row. The river is sparkling and makes for a relaxing day. You can even rent bikes here if you are feeling adventurous! (15 minutes away)
-Visit historical sites such as the liberty bell or Independence Hall. (25 minutes away)
-Run up the Rocky steps and pose with Rocky. This is located at the art museum, which is also a great stop. (20 minutes away)
-Eat countless cheesesteaks! These are everyone in Philly, but my favorite is Delassandros. (10 minutes away)
-Visit Reading Terminal Market where there are dozens of local eateries and shops. (25 minutes away)
-Go to Benjamin Franklin Parkway which was modeled after the Avenue des Champs-Élysées in Paris. Some of the city’s most important cultural institutions are housed here, including the Barnes Foundation, The Franklin Institute, The Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University and the crowning Philadelphia Museum of Art. (Another super-popular attraction, former prison Eastern State Penitentiary, is just a 15-minute walk from the Philadelphia Museum of Art.) (25 minutes away)

In the greater Philadelphia area there is even more activities such as:
-Day trips into other cities/states such as DC, New York City, Delaware, New Jersey...
-Visit Amish country. The food here is incredible! I love Shady Maple which is all you can eat buffet of the most delicious food you have ever had.
-New Hope, PA is an adorable town with antiques and small stores. Great to wander around!
-Hershey, PA is home to the giant Hersheypark theme park and Hershey's Chocolate World, a combination chocolate museum and attraction with rides.
-The Poconos is a great visit if you love to be active. The Poconos is the region's largest ski resort area, with six full resorts and 185 slopes and trails for skiing, snowboarding, and every other kind of winter snow activity.
