The dream to live in Europe became a reality in 2018 by using this website to find a housesit. We struck gold by finding a long term housesit in France!. ooh la la did things change! . We got such a taste for this life enriching adventure, going strong for 7 1/2 years 😁 During COVID ( end of December 2020) we returned to Sydney, Australia, again in longterm housesits. ( We have excellent references to show) But we were asked to come back here in France , same place where it all began. ( From Mid 2023)
We are currently ( since April '25) in the country side near Béziers in another long-term housesit as it seems we can just stay..stay...and stay! and we are totally ok with staying in the beautiful Hérault. What a treat!
A bit about our family: Damian is a ( part time) CAD draftsman / surveyor ( aviation) and is currently an on-line English teacher.
Damian was brought up on a farm/vineyard in South Australia by Dutch parents. He is quite the handyman. He has renovated several houses and he has been able to use his skills and knowledge in a variety of house sits. ( And the owners were very happy with that, see feedback 😁👍)
Tygo , our son(19) has become an enthusiastic side kick ( learning handy man skills is quite important for this generation z 😉). He has an English teaching certificate for teaching online and he designs audio video parts for 3 D printing.
Lisette has a certificate in support work for aged care and worked as a circuit coach at a women only gym in Australia.
Lexi ( 15) is doing a Canadian home school program and has a passion for museums and art. She is pursuing a course in couture.
We love what we are doing and often go over and beyond because we can't help ourselves 😁 and on top of that as a bonus, we get to spend time as a family and share this experience together, learning from all the different animals and people we have met.

j'ai rencontré une famille trés sympathique notre seul problème fut la langue Lisette se débrouille en français mais le reste de la famille parle anglais ce qui m'a obligée à utiliser le mien qui datait de 63 ans inutile de dire que ce fut ardu. sinon mes animaux ont été choyés et la maison bien entretenue

Super expérience pour la première fois .lizette et sa famille sont charmant ils se sont occupés des animaux et des plantes vertes super bien et en revenant notre maison était super propre, rangée et avec des petits cadeaux Ils se sont parfaitement débrouillés dans notre maison sans nous demander toutes 5 minutes où est rangé ceci ou vous avez mis cela … Et on a eu régulièrement des photos de nos animaux que l’on a retrouvé en pleine forme Je recommande vivement ça a été une très bonne expérience et je crois qu’ils ont aussi aimé notre belle région 😊

Lisette, Damian and their wonderful kids have been spectacular house sitters. Not only have they looked after our big old farm house (which requires a lot of TLC) lovingly and with extreme care, they have a knack for all DIY, and more than that, they are very good and comfortable with handling tools and equipment and can perform many works that require handcrafting, building, assembling, constructing, etc. We have been so lucky with all their care in the house, the garden, the herb garden, the farm ...... On another note, since I do pop in once in a while when I come to Europe, I stay with them and they make me feel so welcome. They are kind and respectful to our small village community and made a real difference to my worry and happiness of leaving our beautiful farm. Thank you very much !
