We have 3 cats; a 16 year old brother and sister and a 10 year old female.
The two older cats, Teitur & Bjalla, are very friendly, they warm up to new people quickly and love cuddles and pets. The youngest cat, Lína, is more skittish and needs time to get to know new people. She is very curious and loves to play.
They are all indoor cats and we have an automated litter box (litter robot) so no scooping necessary. The bag needs to be emptied once a day. They have access to dry food all day and get a can of wet food in the evening.
The cats are not used to children or other animals.

We leave early morning on June 13th so we'd like the house sitters to arrive the day before our trip. We return in the late afternoon on June 24th, but it's okay if the house sitters would like to leave earlier in the day.

Logement

Bright and roomy apartment in the south of Amsterdam, with recently renovated kitchen and bathrooms. It's located in a quiet, safe neighborhood with nice parks and outside of the main tourist areas. In the daytime you will encounter locals going about their lives and in the evenings the streets are quiet. In the living room there are two desks with adjustable chairs and 4k monitors, as well as high speed internet, in case you'd like to work from the apartment. You can get Uber Eats or Deliveroo to deliver from roughly 100 different restaurants. The smart TV has surround sound and an HDMI cable to watch from your own device. We like to cook and the kitchen is pretty well equipped, with two ovens, dishwasher and an induction countertop. The stay is suitable for 1-2 people. The guest room has two single beds that can be used separately or attached together, as well as ensuite sink and shower. There is a washer/dryer combo in the apartment and a drying rack for hanging laundry. There is a supermarket right across the street where you can find all the essentials. Within a 15 minute walk are butcher shops, bakeries, fruit vendors, dry cleaner, cheese stores, large …

Tourisme et loisirs

Amsterdam is a great city with countless attractions and restaurants. Despite the multiple points of interest it is surprisingly small and has a good transport system of buses, trams, metros and trains so getting around is quite easy. You can use credit/debit cards to check in and out of public transport systems.

There is a bus stop around the corner from the apartment that takes about 10 minutes to get to Amsterdam Zuid train station. This station offers great connections to take day trips to other cities, such as Den Haag, Utrecht or Haarlem from the Zuid station. It takes about 30 minutes to get from Schiphol airport to our apartment by public transport, or around 15 minutes by taxi.

I had a wonderful time in this green part of Amsterdam. The apartment is very tidy, bright and well organized. The cats are very easy to take care of. The communication was really easy going. So … I had a great time (and yes the beautiful weather was helpful)

It was my first visit to Amsterdam and I had such a wonderful stay at Hrefna and Ernir's home. Teitur, Bjalla and Lína have the greenest eyes I've ever seen and it was a joy to have them around and welcoming me after sightseeing. I went to art galleries, Van Gogh and Rijksmuseum, to a concert in Begijnhof, sailing with Eco boats and walked by the rivers. Hrefna and Ernir are very welcoming couple and they thought of everything, which made it easy for me to take care of the cats and enjoy staying there. They told me (because I’m a cinema fan) about an old charming movie theater, Koninklijk Theater Tuschinski, a hidden gem, that was a pure experience to visit with it’s Art deco decorations and luxury seats. Thank you for trusting me.

We have had a very pleasant stay at Hrefna and Ernir´s home. The flat is very well situated, quiet and surrounded by several green areas, a few kilometers away from center but not too far away or difficult to get to, the access to shops and restaurants is in short distance on foot. We enjoyed very much cycling all around visiting many places in a short time. The cats are very sweet, affectionate and easy going. Last but not least, Hrefna and Ernir treated us with a tasty diner at an Indian restaurant on our arrival. We thank them both for their hospitality, nice evening together, for their trust enabling us to have a pleasant stay in Amsterdam.
