Brussels

The cat Mauw needs to be fed two or three times a day, and his toilet needs to be cleaned every few days. He likes company, but can also be left alone during the day without any problem. He's already 16 and sleeping a lot. He can go out to the back garden through a cat door, but he prefers the front garden - he will ask you to open the window to go there when you're at home. He never goes far away - so there's no risk of him getting lost.

There are also 2 interior plants to water. During dry spells in the summertime, some plants in the small back garden need to be watered too.

The cat sitter(s) should come on Friday 17/07 in the evening, and then I can do a tour of the house. I will leave the next morning, but will go to sleep somewhere else. You can leave on Sunday 16/08 or Monday 17/08 any time. I will give preference to catsitter(s) that come for the entire period.

It's a 58 square meter, ground-floor apartment in Laken, Brussels.

There's a living room, a sleeping room with a double bed, a kitchen, and a bathroom. The living room has a big window looking out over a front garden and a park on the other side of the street. The environment is quiet, but the park on the opposite side of the street is much frequented, so there are always some people passing by.

The Atomium is a 10 min walk. There are several parks in the neighbourhood.

The place is well connected by public transport, with direct connections to the centre of Brussels and Brussels South train station. Metro station Stuyvenbergh (line 6) and tram station Guillaume de Greef (51, 19, 62, 93) are both at 5' walk, and the train stations of Bockstael and Jette are at 10'.

The cat Mauw living in the apartment is 16 years old and is easy to take care of. He's a bit shy but becomes sociable once he gets to know you.

There's a high quality sound system for playing music, and internet, but no TV. Lot's of books in Dutch, English, French, Spanish and German. A nice desk to work on, with view on the front garden, the street, and the park.
The apartment is an ideal retreat for writing, reading, listening to music, watching movies...

It's situated in a residential, mixed, cosmopolitan area of Brussels, which is lively and green at the same time. The green circular walk around Brussels is passing in front of the house. There are many parks and even small nature reserves within walking distance. The centre of Jette is close by, where you can enjoy the traditional Brussels way of life, far away from tourism and gentrification. The area is very well served in organic food shops and markets (Marche Bio at Be Here, Au Rayon Bio, The Barn, Healthy & Beldy, farmers market at Jette train station on Wednesday, market in Laken on Saturday, market in Jette on Sunday).
To enjoy the nightlife, you'll have to go to other areas of Brussels, but public transport connections are good.

The Atomium and the Magritte House are at walking distance.
The centre of Brussels can be reached very easily by public transport.
From Brussels there are frequent trains to places in Belgium (Brugge, Gent, Antwerp...) and abroad (Paris, London, Amsterdam, Köln, Frankfurt).
