We have a lively but lovely household with our two fantastic dogs (Max and King), gerbil Richard, 3 goldfish, and our latest addition is a playful ginger cat named Roland. Wessel's passion are his hens, however currently the coop sits empty as we have just moved into our new house.

As we are passionate travelers and on the road often, both for work and fun, we prefer to have an individual, couple or family take care of them while we are away and keep an eye on the house at the same time. Nomador has allowed us to make new connections, and we always enjoy hosting and spending time with new connections.

The fish and gerbil are really very easy, they just need regular feeding and perhaps a cleaning of their space. The dogs and cat need more attention and love, we have a very friendly, socially very active and playful Border Collie named King, who loves to play all day long and will keep you busy with balls, sticks or even rocks. Our second dog, an adopted Griffon Nivernois Max (9) is the guardian of the house and garden with a loud voice and opinion. He is superfriendly to all people and just loves to cuddle and lounge around, but at the same time he is a strong stubborn hunting dog so needs a firm hand during walks.

Young Roland the cat just turned one, and has taken ownership of the house and is transforming from a young kitten to a lovely cat with pazzaz. Watching Roland and Max play is just about the cutest thing you will ever see.

The dogs need 2-3 walks in the day (access to forest trails is closeby). For the rest of the day the dogs roam in the garden or inside the house. They can perfectly be alone for 5-6 hours.

We moved in summer 2025 and own a very special 150-year old house in the middle of the hill-top village of Gattieres, with the church bells ringing time (not at night). The house has served as a restaurant in the twenties and thirties and must have hosted some great parties. The layout and structure are very unique, with large windows opening up to a lush courtyard covered in vines and palm trees, a marble staircase, wooden floors, pillars and many architectural details. Each room has its own outdoor space. The views over the Var valley, the Mercantour and the Alps are unforgettable. and on a clear day you get a glimpse of the blue Mediterranean sea from upstairs. The village is a maze of steep small streets made for donkeys, but luckily we have our garage directly below the house to park. The village has a decent restaurant, pizzeria, a supermarket, bar, a nice bakery, all within a 5-minute walk. Large super markets, malls and plenty of great restaurants are within 10-15 minutes drive. The airport is at 20 minutes and you will be in the center of Nice in about 30 minutes. We have lots of English and Dutch books available, a BBQ , the pool for summer, satelite TV, Netflix, two living spaces (one with TV), bluetooth speaker, kitchen with all appliances.

We have a relaxed lifestyle. We are privilged to live perfectly in between the sea and the mountains. We have friendly neighbours and the lovely village on our doorstep. We spend large parts of our days in our courtyard to take in the amazing views. We would highly recommend house sitters to have a car available.

Tourisme et loisirs

So much to do and to explore ! Of course Nice, Monaco, Cannes and Antibes are only a short drive away, even a day trip to Italy is possible. Popular villages (Valbonne, St. Paul de Vence, Vence, Carros) with plenty of shopping and restaurants are a short drive away. The mediterranean with beaches and the glitz of the cote d'azur. If hiking and the outdoors is your thing, the mountains are right there with plenty of marked trails for all levels. Larger shopping malls also closeby.

Merci à Michael et Wessel, de leur confiance pour ce séjour, dans ce qu'on appellera la maison du bonheur. Commençons par nos compagnons à quatre et deux pattes, c'est un vrai havre de paix, tout ce beau monde cohabite merveilleusement, Max et Roland qui vous offriront chaque jour une démonstration de jeu et de complicité rare entre ce grand pépère et un chat, juste incroyable. Roland pourra accompagner vos nuits si vous laissez la porte ouverte. King quand à lui testera votre lancé de balles. Les poules viendront se mêler à votre quotidien et vous aurez même l'occasion de caresser l'une d'entre elle. Richard quant à lui viendra vous dire bonjour, quand vous viendrez lui parler ou entretenir sa cage. Les Hamsters derniers arrivants, prennent leurs marques. La maison est juste magnifique, le jardin un vrai petit coin de paradis, et cette passerelle juste exceptionnelle avec une vue incroyable. Quant à Michael et Wessel, très bon accueil, générosité, convivialité, nous avons passé une merveilleuse soirée en leur compagnie à leur retour. En résumé un couple adorable. Merci pour tout.

Merci a Mickaël et Wessel de nous avoir fait à nouveau confiance dans leur nouvelle maison. Nous avons retrouvé King toujours aussi joueur, Max toujours dans notre dos dès qu'on prépare le repas, Rolland très glouton et qui n'attend qu'à courrir après la poule Colette, Richard qui pointe son museau matin et soir dans sa cage et nos amis poissons très sages dans leur acquarium. Le village est vraiment très sympa, typique de l'arrière pays niçois. La maison est magnifique avec une vue splendide sur les montagnes du Mercantour, et de splendides levé du soleil. Nous avons passé un agréable séjour.
