We live in the beautiful village of Castelveccana, Lombardy, Italy, just above Lago Maggiore. Our dog, Pango is a 6-year old mix (Rhodesian Ridgeback + Malinois + something else), strong, athletic and loving, but needs a lot of attention, therefore we are looking for a couple. We had one excellent experience with a single Italian man, but all other sitters so far were couples, and it is easier for two people. The property has a large orchard with a lot of open space for Pango to fetch a ball, which he loves to do (that's an understatement) and to exercise, and there are mountain forests around for long walks. We offer accommodation in a cottage adjacent to the main house. The cottage has a beautiful living room with internet, smart tv, a comfortable bedroom, kitchenette, and bathroom. The main house has a fully equipped kitchen, washing machine and dryer that sitters can use at any time, but the heating in the house will be turned off. If 5 months seem too long, we would consider 2.5 months, but no less than that, please. Winter here is rainy, seldom snowy, and most of the time temperatures are above zero. There is gas heating in the cottage as well as a fire place.

Précisions sur les dates

We plan to leave Italy on October 27 and we would like the dog sitters to be here a few days before we leave so we can get them acquainted with Pango, the house, the village and the surroundings. We are somewhat flexible about the end dates. We would like to come back in the beginning of April, but we will consider and earlier return if necessary. We have done that in the past.

Our restored farmhouse is located at the end of a small, typical Lombardian village on Lago Maggiore. It has a big garden with many fruit trees, a swimming pool (closed in winter) and an adjacent cottage, which is the accommodation we offer to the sitters.

Tourisme et loisirs

The area is beautiful, surrounded by the snowy Alpine peaks, with many nature trails and the beautiful lake. It's not far from Lugano, Switzerland, and about 1.5 hour drive or train ride to Milan. In the next village, Porto Valtravaglia, there is an excellent supermarket and a weekly open market on Mondays. There is a very famous market in nearby Luino on Wednesdays, and in nearby Laveno Mombello, on Tuesdays. Ferry rides on the lake can take you to some beautiful villages in Piedmont.

Atay and Anat are incredibly kind, accommodating, and super friendly hosts. Their dog, Pango, is incredibly sweet. He will quickly win your heart, especially if you are ready to play fetch with his ball. The property itself is stunning and features a massive garden. The separate cottage is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need and gives you complete privacy. I absolutely loved the pool and used it whenever the weather was nice. The surrounding area is also fantastic for nature walks. I highly recommend taking the trail to the nearby waterfall (Cascata della Froda), it is a truly beautiful hike. Thank you again Atay, Anat and Pango for the wonderful stay. See you soon!
