Peaceful Nature Cottage in South Co. Galway - Two Lovely Cats, Ancient Oak Woods, Rivers & Creative Solitude

We are looking for a caring, gentle and reliable house sitter from the 13th July to 22nd August to stay at our cottage, An Tionól, in the beautiful countryside of Co. Galway, Ireland

Our home is a hidden gem, held in deep nature, close to an ancient oak forest, rivers, wildlife, and a lovely local community. It is a wonderful place for someone who is looking for quiet, beauty, simplicity and time to breathe.

We have two cats, Lilith and Kitty, who are easy to care for and do not need much beyond kind presence and simple daily attention. They need to be fed twice a day, morning and evening. Their water needs to be kept clean and full, and the room where they stay needs to be cleaned once a week. Apart from that, they are quite independent.

This would be a beautiful opportunity for someone who wants to immerse themselves in nature, work remotely, write, rest, create, or spend time with their own project. The place offers a lovely balance between solitude and connection: you can enjoy deep quiet and stillness, and also explore the surrounding areas of Galway and Clare.

The nearest town is about 10 minutes away. It is possible to go by bike, and there are also local people around who may be able to offer lifts when needed for shopping, visiting Galway, or wandering around the area.

This is a very special place if you love nature, cats, simplicity, birdsong, old trees, rivers, and quiet mornings. The cats only need feeding morning and evening, so there is plenty of time and space to be with yourself, to work, to explore, or to simply enjoy the land.

We would love to hear from someone responsible, kind, grounded and respectful of the house, the cats and the natural surroundings.

You will be staying in your own cabin, with an en-suite toilet and shower and you will also enjoy the Barn, a lovely place where you can cook and work from, meditate and use as your main living area.

We would appreciate a little love to our gardens, but not much. only weeding some paths, maintaining a little the natural and wild atmosphere.

We are looking for a kind and reliable house sitter for 13th July to 22nd August to care for our peaceful cottage in Co. Galway and our two cats, Lilith and Kitty.
The cats are independent and easy to look after. They mainly need feeding twice a day, fresh water, and their room cleaned once a week. The rest of the time is very much your own.
An Tionól Cottage is a quiet rural home surrounded by nature, close to rivers, wildlife and an ancient oak forest. It is a beautiful place for someone wanting solitude, creative time, remote working, writing, resting or exploring Galway and Clare.
There will be another house sitter before these dates, and there may also be the possibility of arranging another sitter afterwards, so please still get in touch if you are available for only part of the period. We are open to shorter stays if the timing works well.

An Tionól Cottage is a peaceful rural home in Co. Galway, held by nature, silence and simplicity. Surrounded by old trees, rivers, wildlife and the presence of an ancient oak forest nearby, it offers a rare balance of solitude, beauty and community. It is a place to rest, write, work, listen, wander and feel close to the living landscape. The house is a 300 years old Irish cottage. Although you will be staying on a smaller cottage en-suite with your won kitchen and toilet. We have a few wooden cabins too in the property.

An Tionól Cottage is a beautiful base for exploring South Galway, North Clare and the edge of the Burren. Nearby you can visit Coole Park Nature Reserve, a magical woodland and wetland landscape close to Gort, and Thoor Ballylee, the tower once home to W.B. Yeats. The ancient monastic site of Kilmacduagh, with its round tower and peaceful ruins, is also close by.
A little further away, you can wander through Kinvara, a colourful coastal village with Dunguaire Castle on Galway Bay. The extraordinary limestone landscape of The Burren, with its wildflowers, stone forts, caves and ancient sites such as Poulnabrone Dolmen, is within easy reach. Galway City, the Cliffs of Moher, Lahinch, Doolin and the Clare coast can also make lovely day trips for those wanting to explore more widely.
