We have two indoor/outdoor cats and 3 chickens. The cats need to be fed regularly and usually kept inside at night. The chickens must be fed and watered in the mornings and their eggs taken away. There are many potted plants that will need watering (it usually takes me about 30 min every day in the summer).

We have our tickets and are leaving on June 19th. We would love to meet the house sitter and show them around the house and the area and have them meet our animals but it's not absolutely necessary.

There are many places nearby to hike and enjoy nature. The village beach is 4km away and a relaxing 45 min hike on a gravel road or 5 min drive on a paved road. The grocery store is a 5 min walk up the hill and is next door to the taxi driver and the post office. The small village is home to 5 restaurants, 3 cafes, 2 bakeries, 1 bar, and 1 pharmacy (all an easy walk from the house). There is also a farmer's market on the main street every Wednesday morning. The people are friendly and always willing to help out. There is a public bus that arrives every morning and every evening. The ferry port to the mainland is 20 min away by car. The ferry runs throughout the day during the summer for quick getaways to Athens. Athens is 2.5 hrs away by car. There is also a public bus that runs from the ferry port on the mainland to Athens. We are musicians, artists, and nature lovers. We have many musical instruments, a billion cds, records, record player. We have a telescope for star gazing and binoculars for bird-watching. We grow a few vegetables and have nearly every herb you can think of. If we don't have it growing, we have it on our spice rack because we love cooking. We have various sitting areas outside because it's just too nice to stay indoors all day.

We are at the edge of a small village with many conveniences and near to wildlife, endless olive groves, and gorgeous beaches. The house is midway down a hill and just a short walk to the market and the main street will you will find everything to meet your needs. The house is nearly 200 years old and has seen some restoration but isn't luxurious. It's comfortable and relaxing. Though it's a small village, there are people from all over the world here. There is a strong sense of community.

Tourisme et loisirs

Evia is the second largest island in Greece and, because it's been mostly developed for agriculture, is largely undiscovered by tourists. The local beach (Friniakos beach) is only 4km away. Its crystal clear waters are beautiful to swim in during the day and at night the water is filled with bioluminescent dinoflagellates that sparkle like magic as you swim through them. There are beautiful beaches and nature all around. Any of the 5 tavernas are great to visit and serve up traditional Greek food. If you don't feel like going out to eat there is the supermarket up the road or a farmer's market on Wednesday morning. If you are driving or if you wish to catch the bus there are many museums and ancient sites in Evia. 20 min (by car) is the big town of Aliveri where modern shops and large supermarkets can be found. 20 min (by car in the other direction) is the ferry port that can take you off the island. There is a regular bus from the port on the other side that can take you into Athens.

Rebecca et son mari sont adorables et super accueillants. On se sent de suite en confiance. Ils nous ont donné plein de conseils pour visiter. Leur maison se trouve dans un village très sympathique et pittoresque mais il faut une voiture impérativement pour visiter et aller aux plages dont l'eau est cristalline. Les 2 chats sont trop mignons, calmes, câlins et sont nourris 2 fois par jour. Grâce à Rebecca, nous avons passé un séjour extraordinaire. Mille mercis à eux
