I have a lovely male West Highland Terrier, age 12, male. As an ex show dog he is very well behaved. Loves walks and is well trained both on and off the lead. He has short "toilet " walks morning and evening. He has a good walk in the parkland behind the villa in the afternoon. I always give him a short toilet walk before I go to bed. The cats are all rescue cats and mainly stay outside because they seem to prefer that. If they wish they can come in at any time. Apart from one ginger cat they stay out most of the time, weather permitting. there are no complicated feeding regimes, just no junk for the dog! He loves carrots. So, in a nutshell, feed and love the animals and just enjoy yourself in this beautiful area.

These dates are the the day I actually leave and the day I actually return. I would suggest arriving 2 days prior to departure to get to know the animals / house etc. Dates are flexible both arriving and leaving.

Delightful, modern 3 bedroom villa on small complex. All mod cons, including WiFi. Lovely garden. 2 bathroom/shower rooms, 2 toilets. Terraces, back, side front. Sea views. Nestled at the bottom of the garigue ( open natural parkland). Great for walking and the area is excellent for sightseeing. Old abbeys and picturesque towns of Narbonne and Perpignan. Spain and the Pyrenees only 40 mins away. Beach 10 mins drive where in Leucate fresh oysters and mussels are available all year round. A good selection of CD's and DVD's. A huge book library. Many guide books and maps for the region For those who lke cooking I have just about every cooking aid, blenders, food processor, juicer, spiralizer, pasta maker, slow cooker. The living area is open plan with 2 sofas, dining table that seats 6. During the winter it is very quiet in Fitou. in the village there is a bar/newsagent, post office, baker. There is a small mini market at the far end of the village however, Leucate is only 10 minutes drive where there are plenty of small shops, pharmacy and supermarket. About 20 minutes drive there is a large shopping mall with many shops and a huge Carrefour supermarket. …

The villa is furnished well and is very comfortable as it is a permanent home. All on one level, no stairs.There is a gas barbeque on the covered terrace at the back. Plenty of outdoor furniture.
This is very pretty rural environment but within 20 mins you can be in the bustle of a big town, like Perpignan and Narbonne. About 1 hour away is the medieval city of Carcassonne with all the Cathar history. The Canigou mountain is about 1 hour away if you like climbing.

Tourisme et loisirs

This is a beautiful area of France with so many wonderful things to see and do. Obviously, in winter it is quieter but that gives the visitor the chance to see things without too much bustle. There are many cultural and heritage sites in the region. The scenery is stunning and the walks are really enjoyable. For wine lovers, there are countless wine producers where wine tasting is available. In Fitou village there are at least 6 producers. Fresh local produce both from supermarkets and there are many local markets and some fairly big markets on Sundays.
Apart from the Guide books here I have compiled a list of attractions etc.

We stayed 9 days at Julie's house taking care of Vivi, her dog. Julie is very sociable, pleasant and a good host: she gave us total confidence to be comfortable in her house, making everything easy for us. Communication with her was easy and fluid, she is very funny and kind in her messages! 😃 The dog Vivi is very well behaved, he is older and requires very little care. He is very affectionate and tranquil, adorable. The house is very nice, with a garden full of trees and plants, the place is quiet and with many possibilities for hiking and sightseeing. It is advisable to bring mosquito repellent at this time of year! 😂 Thank you our friend Julie, for everything, a real pleasure to have met you. See you soon. Xxxx 😘 Carlos and Mally 💖
