We have a shepherd mix dog, he is a rescue and pretty low maintenance as he enjoys spending his days sleeping in various spots around the house and is happy to be left at home during the day or evening, so you can explore the area. He can be nervous around strangers and other dogs so requires walking once a day locally in the woods surrounding the house away from other people and other dogs. Though we have two young children ourselves we feel that Steve would be happier with people either with no children or older children.

Restored house in a quiet and tranquil village (with a restaurant with panoramic views) in the hills north of the beautiful historic walled city of Lucca. 2 double bedrooms and 1 single bedroom, 2 bathrooms. There is a wood fire which heats all the radiators in the house, keeping the place nice and warm in the winter. Beautiful chestnut beamed ceilings. the house is located next to a chestnut forest and surrounded by olive trees. Our dog (steve) is a 5 year old rescue shepherd mix who loves to spend the day sleeping in various spots around the house. He is a big softy once he gets to know you. We have several bikes available for use. Good wifi access, netflix and Disney+. If required there is also a home office. The house is a short stroll through the village from the main piazza. Please note there is no vehicle access directly to the house, cars can be parked in the piazza and then you go by foot the rest of the way. The surrounding area is tranquil located in the hills covered in olive groves and chestnut forests. There is a restaurant in the village with beautiful views from the terrace. …

Ponte Moriano is located 15 mins away by car where you can find a weekly market, restaurants, gelateria, butchers, green grocers etc. a large super market is 20 mins away. The historic walled city of Lucca is located 15 km away, the beach is 40km. and the ski resort of Abetone is 60km. Florence and Pisa which both have airports are within easy reach from the house. A car is a necessity as there is no regular public transport and the house is located 10 mins drive up a hill.

The house is ideally located to explore all that northern tuscany has to offer, including historic cities of Lucca, Florence, Pisa and seaside resorts of Forte Di Marmi, Viaraggio etc. Heading north from the house you can explore the beautiful Garfagnana region, full of forests, interesting towns and villages like Barga and Castelnuovo garfagnana, fortresses, lakes and mountains, The area is popular with cyclists and hikers.

If you need a break from all the sight seeing and activities the house is a beautiful place to enjoy a quiet day of peaceful tranquillity amongst nature or to snuggly up in front of the fire.

Taking care of Steve has been an amazing experience for us. Emily has been very friendly and prepared our bedrooms beforehand. She is also very great to communicate with and we had good laughs! I highly housesitting for Emily and Chris!

Accueil très chaleureux, repas italien préparé à notre attention pour notre arrivée. Les instructions étaient bien préparées et très claires. Nous n'avons donc eu aucun soucis durant le séjour.
