Scout is a great dog, very mellow and adventurous! He is used to a life where he gets out on the trails every day. He loves to run around and explore with you while you hike or run. It is essential that you are an active and outdoors person/couple so that Scout can get the exercise that he loves.

Scout has epilepsy and has a seizure about once a month. It is NOT a medical emergency when this happens; he just needs you to sit with him until it passes. He takes two chewable pills per day for this condition with his food. He also takes some heart medication daily.

My house is pretty easy- 1100 square feet and close to town and the trails. I ask that you keep it clean and water the indoor plants. The greenhouse plants are on a timer so you don't need to fuss with that.

I also would prefer somebody who is home more than not. Scout is used to being around people a lot and doesn't like to be left alone for long periods of time.

This is a unique and unconventional home built into the boulders. It is 1.5 miles from Prescott National Forest and 1.5 miles from downtown Prescott. It features a large atrium in the front of the house, and two decks, one of which looks out on Thumb Butte. My dog, Scout, is a fifty pound Australian Shepherd mix. He loves playing outside and going on hikes and runs in the woods. He is mellow and does great with other dogs and humans but NOT cats. He is now 13 so has definitely slowed down but still enjoys neighborhood walks and hikes in the woods! Please note: this is not a five star hotel. It is a quaint, 1100 square foot home with basic accommodations. What you see in the pictures and description is what you will get! I work from home so I have strong WIFI. My home is situated in a quaint little neighborhood right in Prescott. It is within a mile and a half of endless forest trails. There is a grocery store 1/2 mile away. Downtown is a mile and a half away. It is super cute and has many restaurants, bars, antique shops, and other stores to enjoy. Trader Joe’s, Target, Costco, and the mall is about fifteen minutes away.

Scout is my only pet and I treasure him deeply. I ask that you do the same when you are with him. There are a lot of stairs in this home, as there are several levels. It is a unique, passive solar design and you need to be comfortable with that layout. It is not wheelchair accessible and it would not be suitable for anyone with walking limitations.

Tourisme et loisirs

Prescott is great for people who love living in small towns and accessing endless forest trails. There is so much wilderness and unique landscape here for hiking, biking, horseback riding, and running. There are three few lakes within fifteen minutes of my home. I live very close to the trails and town (1.5 miles). It is a beautiful place to spend a few weeks!

Note: Sedona is 1.5 hours away and Grand Canyon is 2.5 hours away.

Anna was a great host and made sure all my questions and needs were taken care of before she left on her 2 week trip. She also was available everyday on Whatsapp if I had any questions about the house or her dog, Scout. Anna's home is very cozy and unique, nestled in hillside boulders with a greenhouse. It is only a 5 minute drive to a national forest where her dog Scout and I spent many a lovely hour walking the endless quiet trails. Scout is very easy to care for. As long as he gets his nature walk everyday, he is very chill and will just lie down and be good company. The town of Prescott is very cute and has some nice restaurants, bars and stores. It is a good place to enjoy nature and get a break from the big city. I highly recommend housesitting for Anna as a positive experience.
