I have two terriers, a Jack Russell (11) and a Yorkie cross (12). They are both very sweet and affectionate with lovable personalities. They are fed once a day with a raw meat diet, and need a couple of short walks a day either around the land at my home, or in the local area. They are kept on the lead away from home, and Maisie the Yorkie as also kept on a long line at home, because she is quite deaf and also an enthusiastic hunter!

I have three horses, all gentle and well mannered, and if you are comfortable to do so I may ask you to give them hay once or twice a day, however, a local person will take care of them so this is not compulsory.

My cat is very independent and shy, and she usually moves out when sitters are here to go and live with my neighbour! So she is pretty easy. If she deigns to welcome you then you would need to feed her twice a day or however often she asks for it!

I like sitters to arrive at least a day before the start of the sit so we can go through everything and get to know each other. the horse care can be particularly complicated sometimes! In the warmer months sitters can stay in one of my gites, but these are not terribly well insulated so in autumn and winter they would stay in the house during handover.

My home is a beautiful renovated stone farmhouse, in a verdant valley with beautiful views, set in 2.2 hectares. There is peace and quiet and extensive birdlife and wildlife, so suits nature lovers. There is no public transport, so you need to ideally have a car, or be happy to stay on site. Heating is via wood - a wood-burning stove and a wood-fired kitchen range - so in the winter you need to be confident with building wood fires and also fit enough to bring the logs inside which you need for the fire. The house is very comfortable, with high speed internet. I live in a small hamlet of four houses, so whilst it is very quiet, the location is not remote and the neighbours are friendly and helpful.
The nearest village is 2 km away where there is a great boulangerie, and the nearest small town for other amenities is 6 km away.

On the edge of the Normandie National Parc and Les Alpes Mancelles, there is fantastic walking and cycling in this rural area. There are many quaint medieval towns and villages to visit, and great markets where you can buy locally grown produce.

Un séjour au calme dans un lieu plus qu’agréable. Pam m’a laissé les clés de chez elle en toute confiance après m’avoir accueillie pour un repas. Maisie et Puppie, les deux petites chiennes, sont très affectueuses et les trois chevaux respectueux de l’homme. Tout s’est parfaitement bien passé !
