This assignment includes caring for our twelve-year-old Golden retriever, Caroline. Caroline is friendly and sweet, a great companion who wants to be with people. She has slowed down quite a bit these last months and can be rather stiff but still enjoys a daily walk. She can be left for up to 4-5 hours easily but becomes lonely beyond that. She needs to be walked once a day. Any health decisions needed for Caroline will be made by one of our two local, adult children. They would also handle any emergencies. House sitter also responsible for maintaining the home in a clean and tidy condition. There may be watering necessary depending on the weather. Collect mail daily or any packages.

Our single family home features a recently remodeled kitchen and bath and new hickory floors in an 800 sq. ft cottage in the Mt Scott-Arleta neighborhood. There are two bedrooms, although one does not have a bed and is set up as an office. Fully fenced back yard with patio. Kitchen with gas range, as well as induction burner, stainless steel sink, fridge and dishwasher. Bright living room. Laundry in basement. We are two blocks from the Portland Mercado carts, Mt-Scott Recreation Center (currently being remodeled), and about a mile and a half to the Woodstock or Lents neighborhoods. Ours is a charming 1920's home with updated kitchen, bath and new hickory floors. Our backyard is quite pleasant and there is a deck, patio and bbq. There is a very small cedar-paneled shed in the backyard as well. The laundry is in the basement. Our home is in Southeast Portland, which feels quite suburban. It is pretty quiet for the most part as we are several blocks off the main drag. There aer a few businesses within two or three blocks, but it's about 1-2 miles to areas that have more commercial offerings including grocery stores like New Seasons or Safeway. Although …

Tourisme et loisirs

Portland is known as the city in a forest and there are a ton of parks, river access ( we have kayaks) and close by are lots of beautiful places for outdoor recreation like Mt Hood or the Columbia River Gorge. The coast is about 2 hours away. Portland is also a real foodie's paradise with tons or carts and both low and high-brow restaurants. There are many brew pubs and coffee is huge.

Laura was very generous in allowing my friend and me to stay in her beautiful home, and we had a wonderful time. There wasn’t much for us to take care of since her dog had unfortunately passed away shortly before our arrival, but we appreciated her clear communication and trust. The house is located in a quiet suburban area with easy access to public transportation, making it simple to explore various neighborhoods in Portland. Thank you so much for having us, Laura!
