Weehawken

As of now, our Italian Greyhound is mostly blind and hard of hearing. However, she loves to walk at least a mile a day, by my side, eats 3 meals a day of cut chicken and wet dog food. She can have treats and gets a bone when we're not home. She has 2 heating pads, on low all the time, and can easily navigate around the condo and into her favorite dog bed and chair. We are careful to be sure she can get down onto the hardwood floor safely. She often barks when she smells the chicken or to ask for help in getting down, if she's hesitant. She's affectionate once familiar with you, and responds well to a familiar voice and smell. She spends a lot of time sleeping, but has periods of puppy behavior rubbing on her textured chair and trying to bight the material. She prefers to ignore other dogs and children. very friendly with gentle adults, and is often confused for a puppy, due to her petite size. She sleeps with us at night. She uses pee pads very well indoors, and will often go on a grass patch in front of our door and on the balcony. She's an absolute joy.
She needs company most of the time, and we prefer not to leave her for more than 3 hours. This works well with someone who works remotely from home.
We also have a lovely easy going 4 ear old cat that is self sufficient and enjoys affection and caresses.

We live in a 1BR/1Bath condominium attached throughout the community. We have a wall of glass windows and screened sliders facing South East/West, looking directly at the Hudson River, across from midtown Manhattan. We have a wonderful balcony and a great fireplace. There is TV, Wifi, Internet and a plethora of channels/movies to chose from. We have several plants and hardwood floors. The front door is down a set of 5 steps and is easy to navigate. When the sun is shining, no matter what the temperature, the view is magnificent .

We have a baby grand piano and a lot of various level piano books. We also have a lot of regional books about the area, walking, biking, hiking ideas. There are several games, as well as backgammon and several decks of cards from all over the world. Fiction and non fiction books are available as well. Alexa to play any kind of music, and headphones so the TV can only be heard by the one watching TV. We have yoga mats, a Peleton bike, free weights and bands. The bldg has a full gym overlooking the water, an indoor heated pool, a yoga room and a sauna, as well as an outdoor cabana.
Packages can be picked up in the front office, and mail is downstairs, as well as trash and recycling.

The area of Weehawken is peaceful with a beautiful waterfront promenade, excellent for walking, jogging, biking, scootering and rollerblading. Across the street there is a Whole Foods grocery store, as well as several restaurants, a Sheraton with water view, a small CVS pharmacy, a convenience store, a deli and coffee kiosk. We have Ruth Chris Steakhouse, Blu on the Hudson (great place), and a seafood restaurant ,the Charthouse, on the water.
One mile to the south along the boardwalk promenade is the town of Hoboken. It is full of restaurants, shops, hair salons, a vetinarian, all you might need, and it is full of charm.
To the north, is Port Imperial with more restaurants, upscale shopping, and a beautiful continuous boardwalk. There are several parks, tennis, ping-pong, soccer, softball, kickball and more. Our home is warm, inviting and comfortable. We love to sit on the balcony on a nice day with coffee or wine. Often you can see a beautiful sunrise and sunset. We are organized, tidy and clean. The fridge and pantry are easily used as well as ease of cooking.

There are festivals in the Spring and Summer, as well as farmers' markets. You can sail, kayak, paddle board, jet ski and take any number of cruises along the Hudson. A car is not necessary for transportation, as there is a ferry every 20 minutes to and from midtown Manhattan, across the river, as well as several busses to central Manhattan. The ferry dock is next to our building and the bus is across the street. We also have many rolling canvas bags to carry groceries if shopping and walking, and several ways to carry Darcy-our Italian Greyhound, if she becomes tired. These include a doggie stroller, doggie backpack, doggie sling, and a padded shoulder bag. Most restaurants allow dogs on the patio in the Spring and Summer. Manhattan has the famous Riverside Drive which runs the length of Manhattan on lanes for bikes, runners, walkers, etc, next to the river. Central Park is always a favorite destination as are Broadway-Times Square and museums. Live entertainment is available everywhere. "Summer on the Hudson" is an annual series of dance lesson/parties on the pier as well as yoga, birthday parties, etc. "Time Out NY" is a weekly publication with all of the happenings around town. There is a NY Botanical Garden and one in Brooklyn as well. All can be reached by the metro.
