Sonny is a 13 year old indoor cat that loves people. No special needs, just wants the comfort of his home and someone keep him warm and to love him. Eats wet food during the day and has a pre-programmed automatic dry food feeder at night.

Logement

Restored 1920's carriage house. Five bedrooms & two full bathrooms. Living room with fireplace and kitchen with wood stove (firewood provided if using). Heating is also provided by central oil heating (steam radiators). Situated on a historic, 2,000 acre estate. No neighbors for 2 miles in any direction. One mile driveway and town road is snow plowed in winter. A perfect writer's retreat or for someone who desires seclusion.

Miles of private hiking trails (snowshoeing in winter). Downhill skiing is only 30 minutes away.

Grocery shopping and gas stations are 25 minutes away. Large "big box" shopping is 45 minutes away. There is absolutely no noise or light pollution. The home is supplied by pure spring water and, at 2,000 feet elevation, fresh air. A local handyman who is familiar with the house is available 24 hours a day via phone, if ever needed. Fast WIFI, Satellite and internet TV. Use of 4WD GMC pickup truck or VW Tiguan to get around.

It was a privilege to look after Andy & Cheryl's property in Andes, NY, and It was a joy to have Sonny, their lovely, quirky & clever cat, as company. As an Aussie who has mostly basked in tropical weather, it was truly refreshing to experience real snow on an expansive wooded estate that boasts well marked walking trails and free range deer. The whole region is beautiful in the winter and the roads are always extremely well ploughed (including Andy & Cheryl's private road and driveway). The home is very comfortable; toasty in winter, with two roaring fireplaces that bolster the central heating. Andy and Cheryl are very smart, colourful & friendly people. When I arrived, they spoiled me with welcome gifts, warm humour & country hospitality. Being a somewhat isolated - so very peaceful - location (although just a short ride to Andes hamlet) they made sure I had detailed information and instructions for every possible contingency and they introduced me to neighbors and friends. I thoroughly loved every day of my 3 month stay. If you get the opportunity to house and pet sit for them, I recommend you take it. You're in for a wonderful adventure!
