We have one cat, Louie, who is very affectionate and really needs company when we are away. He is 5 years old, he is very playful and loves to sleep on your lap. He does not leave the garden, he prefers to stay close to home and to anyone who is home at the time. He recently lost his companion, our other cat, and so is a bit needy of attention. He does not have any special needs, just needs love from someone who loves cats. Louie is not yet used to small children, so we would prefer a sitter without young kids. We also have a small vegetable garden, which just needs water and a little care, as well as some potted plants that will need to be watered. We recently got three chickens, they are young and a bit shy but friendly and do not need much but regular feeding and letting them out in the morning and closing them in at night. They like to be talked to and follow you around, they are very sweet.

The house is in a quiet part of town, it has a big garden with lots of sun and walking paths into the countryside and forest right out the door. Set in beautiful Montseny, with a view of the mountain. It is a quiet place close to nature, but also close enough to Barcelona that it is easy to go in for the day. It is 10 minutes walk to the main part of Llinars del Valles and about a 15 minute walk to the train station where the train goes directly to Barcelona and to the airport.

Llinars del Valles has an active community that often has cultural events in the main plaza on the weekends. People love to do outdoor activities such as hiking and biking. It is really nice to take a walk to other surrounding towns to go to weekend markets and see the countryside. There are a number of restaurants, cafes and bars in the town. The train to Barcelona city center takes 40 minutes and is direct and leaves every half hour from 5:00 to 23:30. The sea is a 25 minute drive (you need a car) from Llinars toward the coast, Mataro is the closest beach town.

Tourisme et loisirs

Many people who live in Barcelona come to Montseny to hike up the small mountain, or walk or bike in the countryside and forest. There are also climbing spots in the area that climbers tend to come to. We are 40 minutes by train from the city center of Barcelona so it is also easy to spend the day there going to museums, the theatre, or the beach.

I am thrilled to write a review of my wonderful experience at the home of Alison and Ines in Llinars del Valles, outside of Barcelona! First of all, I'm grateful they took a chance on me, since it was my first time housesitting, and our first communication all the way up until the end of my stay was easy, fun and caring. They took careful steps to make sure I was comfortable and had so much information about their area, the trains, things to do, and places to see. I adore their cozy home with the glorious view of hills and fields. It's a short walk into town and the train station and it still felt very peaceful and like I was in the country. The large vegetable garden provided more vegetables than I could eat myself, so I was able to share them with friends and neighbours. I enjoyed the use of the bikes and Alison and Ines even introduced me to two lovely friends who met with me and were happy to visit and answer any questions too. The home is close to Barcelona by train, and I absolutely fell in love with the city and coastal beaches!! Another favourite aspect was getting to spend time with Louie, their adorable cat, who is social and loving and so easy to take care of!! C'était un bon moment à Barcelone ! Nouvel An, mais il faisait très chaud. Merveilleux chats affectueux Louis et Philippe. Les filles Alison et Inés sont très amicales et très accueillantes, avec lesquelles j'étais souvent en contact. Appartement sont très lumineux avec une vue magnifique sur la ville. De beaux souvenirs de ces jours merveilleux!
