Garde d’animaux | 2 Chiens | Animaux exotiques

We have two siberian huskies and 1 short-hair rabbit (that live in separate parts of the house and must continue doing so!). Also many plants. The dogs, Tyrion and Legolas, are about 8 and 5 years old, respectively. They are trained and will listen to a firm voice and are friendly to people, but the older one Tyrion is an alpha and might be aggressive with other dogs unless he gets to know them first. We have a muzzle for him that will keep him from being too interested in other dogs, if you need it. They live in the main living room and hallway, but are not given access to the guest bedroom, kitchen, or bathroom (they will eat things!). There are doggy gates for this. They eat different kibble and are fed in the morning and evening, and should be taken out for a walk and potty break then too. Please don't leave food around them unattended, as they are VERY food motivated and will eat it! Also no paper or cardboard or candles left out, for some reason they find these to be delicious. The rabbit, Pepino, lives in a pen enclosure in the primary bedroom. She is fed …

The rabbit, Pepino, lives in a pen enclosure in the primary bedroom. She is fed vegetables such as lettuce and carrots in the morning, pellets at night, and hay throughout the day. Must be able to provide her at necessary feeding times. She can run around on the bed but is otherwise not allowed out and about since she will chew on things. She is a somewhat wild personality, she was rescued at about 1 year old from an abusive household, and she is now about 7 years old. She will allow pets through her pen. We live in Washington Heights, which is located in upper Manhattan. We are a few blocks from two different subway trains that will take you downtown to popular NYC spots. It is about 25 minutes via subway to the Empire State Building, for example. You're welcome to use WiFi and the television, which is outfitted with Roku. Netflix is installed on the tv, in the living room. We have an AC unit in the primary bedroom, guest bedroom, and living room. The laundry room downstairs can be used but they make you pay for it, just to note. You can get a laundry card for $5 and it is about $2-$3 for each washer or dryer. Just downstairs is the bustling city of New York, accessible via subway stations (A train to the north and 1 train to the south). Just outside the window is a great view of the Hudson River.

Our home is oddly spacious for such a populated city. We have a queen bed in both the primary and the guest bedrooms. We are located in a 6-story building, on the 5th floor, on a quieter street right next to the Hudson River. Please note that there will be sounds of traffic from the apartment as we are above a major road, though it is quieter than other parts of Manhattan. If you need silence in order to sleep, this is not for you! There are fantastic views of the river from every room in the apartment. We are a few blocks over from a much busier street with lots of places to eat and things to do, and a few blocks from two different subway stations. Our neighborhood park, where the dogs go, is less than a block away. There is plenty to do in upper Manhattan as well, such as visiting the Little Red Lighthouse, The Met Cloisters, etc.! Note: Negotiable rental of our car, a little blue Prius, if you are willing to move it on street cleaning days. There will undoubtedly be tolls to pay if you take it out of the city or on certain bridges/roads …

Risa did a great job of caring for our pets and home while we were away! She sent updates on our dogs regularly, and spent plenty of time at home with our lap-loving dogs. She handled a couple of unforeseen situations– a frozen water line and a sheep/cow escape!– beautifully, getting everyone safely back into their quarters. Risa went the extra mile, caring for the livestock, hauling hay bales out of the barn, and making sure their food was accessible in the snow, when their regular food ran out. Risa was also a great house guest, and our house was clean and well cared for on our return. I highly recommend Risa for house sitting!

I spent bit more than a week at Larisa's place and it was amazing for me! I had to take care about a supercute and fluffy rabbit end the rest of the day was mine. They are living in a really nice apartment in a well developed area. I totally recommend them and I hope they are not mad at me for drinking all the coffee :)
