A married Irish couple in early 50s, Eimear worked for years as a veterinary surgeon (vet) and now volunteers with animal charities. Ian specialises in animal & human health & pharmaceuticals. We have been raising / fostering service puppies for a national service dog charity for 3 years. Open to a variety of rural or urban house sits in France, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Worldwide. Well travelled, with 14 years house sitting experience and references.
We love to travel, meet new people, see new places, explore new cultures and practice our language where possible! We believe house-sitting gives an opportunity to live amongst the community and experience the real country we are visiting, whilst offering the homeowners peace of mind that their home and/or family pets are safe, secure and cared for as we do our own.
We have experience of house-sitting in Ireland, France (multiple), Denmark, Australia and worldwide, including pet-minding and can provide references upon request. As you can see from our professions, we naturally love and have vast experience caring for animals. We have an especially soft spot for cats! We also like walking (with or without doggie companions), cycling and are also open to minding chickens, sheep, donkeys, goats and lots more! We are reliable and honest. Please note we do not have experience with horses and thus do not consider horse assignments. We also have significant experience fostering of both cats, and service dogs and puppies-in-training for a National Service dog charity.
We will consider a variety of house-sitting positions worldwide, as we love new experiences. Worldwide, we're keen on France, Africa, Canada, Asia & Europe but are willing to consider all locations. We are open to many areas of the world so contact us and we will do our best to accommodate you, depending on flight/ferry costs to get to where you are!
We are happy to look after your garden (we enjoy tending our own) and pool. We are house proud, practically minded and responsible. If you need beds changing, key exchange etc for gite guests, we may be able to facilitate this also. We also are very experienced 'workaways' (helping out homeowners in return for accommodation and board), including welcoming holidaymaker guests and caring for a large property with holiday rentals.
We speak mid-level French, love to chat to people and are very confident managing in a foreign language area. We sometimes have our own car (in Europe) but not always as we'd have to take it by ferry. We will consider both short and longer term sits, urban or rural. We are strict non-smokers (thus prefer non-smoking homes to house sit) and non-drug takers. We both have full clean driving licences.
