Eveline & Richard

My husband Richard and myself (both aged in our early sixties) are enthousiastic housesitters in the Netherlands for about 10 years now (amongst others for the organisation Huisoppasser.nl, they can be contacted as a reference based on more than 10 years of house sitting contacts mediated by them).
We are, fortunately, still in good health and we are still active, for instance as in making long walks and exploring nature and culture.
I work for many years as a psychologist for family and children interventions and Richard has worked for years as a social studies researcher at the University of Utrecht. Since a couple of years Richard teaches Dutch language to academic workers from thoughout the world who work in the Netherlands .
We have no children so we have a lot of time to be at other places and/ or to travel.
As we grow older we love it more and more to be for a certain period of time in different surroundings and experience another region in a more slow, in-dept way.
Richard has a 'natural talent' with animals and we manage to be at ease with even the most 'territorydefensive' dogs.
During the years we enjoyed the habit to get more used to all kinds of animals and we became more or less specialists in many dog and cat species and their behaviour and specialities ; ) . Even now and then we ran into donkeys and horses to take care off and we enjoy all different animals and the joy of discovering their characters.
We both also love to take care of plants. We live in the medieval centre of Utrecht with al little patio garden and we have a piece of land in the neighbourhood of the city were we can grow extra plants and vegetables.
We are so to say quiet people who do not smoke or do not put our music to full volume to enjoy ; )
We like to explore culture and history in our surroundings.
Furthermore we are considerate with the privacy of our hosts, loyal and attentive to respect and cherish the property in which we are invited as housesitters.
In the Netherlands we frequented some of our regular adresses for many years, with mutual satisfaction.
We would love to expand our habit of housesitting from the Netherlands to France so we can enjoy more of the language and the culture as temporarily 'inhabitants'.
