We’re looking for low-key, responsible house sitter(s) who genuinely love cats (ours are sweet but shy—especially one who needs a gentle approach). You should enjoy spending quiet time at home, appreciate plants and gardens, and feel comfortable maintaining a clean, peaceful space.

Honesty, kindness, and clear communication are important to us. We ask that you stay in the home throughout the sit—day trips are fine, but our kitties need company in the evenings and overnight.

Responsibilities include:

Giving love and care to our four cats: Drakosha (2.5, black, energetic), Milky (3, white, cuddly), Mowgli (9, tabby, wise), and Murphy (1, ginger,shy and playful).

Feeding them wet food twice daily (dry food is given via auto feeders).

Watering indoor plants and the garden (especially if it’s warm).

Keeping the home tidy and comfortable.

We’ve had great experiences with past sitters and look forward to finding someone who feels at home here.

We would like house sitters to arrive at least one day early, so we leave Sept 5, and an arrival on the 3rd is preferred. Then we have time together and for the kitties become familiar and show the house and neighborhood.

We have a lovely row house in the central Netherlands, in a peaceful neighborhood of Ede. It’s a beautiful area to explore—perfect for cycling (we have two bikes available), walking, or simply enjoying the mix of countryside and urban convenience.

Shops are just a 2-minute walk away, including a grocery store, bakery, and green grocer. We’re about 50 minutes by car to Amsterdam, and only an hour to Germany. Ede has two train stations with connections across the country.

Our home has a fully equipped kitchen—we both love to cook—and a cozy guest room for you to enjoy. We also have many streaming services and a large collection of films if you like quiet evenings in. It’s a calm, comfortable space in a well-connected, green part of the Netherlands.

The Hoge Veluwe National Park is nearby and perfect for hiking, cycling, and spotting deer or wild boar. Inside the park, you’ll also find the renowned Kröller-Müller Museum, home to one of the largest Van Gogh collections in the world.

The region is also rich in WWII history, with sites like the Airborne Museum in Oosterbeek and memorials around Arnhem. For a taste of Dutch town life, Wageningen, Arnhem, and Utrecht are easy day trips by train or car.

Whether you're a nature lover, history enthusiast, or just looking for a calm base with cultural options nearby, this area has a lot to offer.

Occasionally in the life of a pet-sitter, there is such a convergence between what one would like as a sitter and what is on offer that one has a feeling of striking pet-sitting gold. That was very much the feeling we had right from the start with Heather and Arrien. It would be hard to find two more welcoming, warm and hospitable people. We had made some unusual inquiries, yet they met them all graciously and generously. Their home is beautiful and peaceful with soothing, harmonious vibes and so very gezellig! It was wonderfully situated for everyday life (two large supermarkets and other shops about 100 metres away) and exploring (Utrecht and other beautiful places, not far away and easily accessible via public transport with the nearest bus stop only 3 minutes flat walk away). Truly a place where you can get on perfectly with life without a car. The handover was perfect. Arrien and Heather welcomed us made with a lovely home made dinner, showed us everything and left us a nicely detailed welcome guide to remember everything. All through the sit our daily exchange was so friendly and thoughtful! Last but most certainly not least, the furry babies were adorable. Mowgli, Drakosha, Milky and Murphy each had very distinct looks and personalities and we loved them all. They kept us so well entertained and gave us so much affection (Murphy in particular) that we had to make ourselves go out. Indeed, we spent days contentedly cosseted in this lovely cocoon of a home just in the cats' company with Milky at our feet, Drakosha on his high shelf watching films or listening to music with us and Mowgli patiently waiting for his next meal from under the dining table. If you are lucky enough to be invited to sit for Heather and Arrien, take the opportunity: we certainly thank heaven that we did!
