We have an English shorthair cat who is very easygoing. She needs to be fed twice a day and the litterbox needs to be cleaned regularly (and completely changed 1x per week). While we are away we prefer that she does not go outside, so she needs some pats and playtime while you are home. She likes to cuddle up while you are sleeping or sitting on the couch.

We have a 55m2 apartment in the charming Dapperbuurt area of Amsterdam east. The apartment itself is on the ground floor, with a big bed, open kitchen and lots of light. There is a terrace outside in the back that you can enjoy if the weather is good (keep in mind that the cat does not go outside while we are away).

Our apartment is located in the Dapperbuurt neighborhood of Amsterdam east. Our area has a big market (Dappermarkt), lots of museums (e.g., ARTIS, Wereld Museum) as well as cute cafés and restaurants (e.g., Tigris, Olaf brood, Bakers Lab, The Cottage, Bar Basquiat, The Meets). We are right by a tram stop which takes you across the whole city, as well as Muiderpoort train station which connects you to nice nearby daytrips to places like Weesp, Zaandam, Rotterdam, Gouda... and more.

I had a lovely 10-day stay at Emma and Robert’s home, where I looked after their cat, Freya. Robert gave me a warm welcome before leaving for the airport, and we had a pleasant and thoughtful conversation that helped me arrive and settle in right away. The apartment is clean, tastefully furnished, and it has that feeling of warmth and safety, a place where you can exhale. Freya is a rescue cat and a gentle soul. After a short time, she started seeking my closeness, and already on the first night she slept in bed with me. Since I work from home, I spent the days with her, and she kept coming back to me again and again. At the same time, she also needed her own rhythm and space, which was easy to respect. The apartment is on a quiet side street in East Amsterdam, and the location made daily life easy. There is a daily market just 50 meters away, a station nearby with direct access to the city center, and plenty of shops, cafés, and restaurants within walking distance. There is also a big park for jogging only two minutes away. Emma and Robert are kind, relaxed, and uncomplicated hosts. I felt welcome and at ease during the whole stay. It was a pleasure to care for Freya and stay in their home. I would be happy to come back anytime, and I gladly recommend this sit to anyone.
