Meet Percy

Percy is our adorable rescue Lhasa Apso, aged 13. We adopted him when he was eight, after he had spent time in a rescue centre.

He's affectionate, sociable with people and loves being around you. He'll happily spend the evening curled up beside you on the sofa or settle at your feet while you're eating.

He has the freedom to come and go through a dog flap and enjoys exploring the fenced garden.

Percy needs approximately 30 minutes of walking each day. He particularly enjoys going out in the car, and we often take him to the nearby lake for a walk.

He's getting older and can tire more easily, so if the weather isn't suitable for a walk, a little play with a ball in the garden is usually enough to keep him happy.

He is a very loving little companion.

Our five chickens
We also have five friendly chickens living in their own fenced orchard.

Their care is straightforward:

- Feed them in the morning and evening.
- Check and top up their water feeders.
- Give the coop a quick clean if needed.

They're easy to look after and provide a little extra country-life entertainment!



What we'd like from our house-sitter

Percy falls into the senior dog category and takes medication which needs to be administered as part of his daily routine (very simple -one tablet am and pm) . We'll explain this clearly and show you everything before we leave.

Our main priority is Percy's wellbeing. We would love someone who enjoys having a dog around, will give him plenty of affection and keep him company.

The daily routine is relatively simple:
- Keep Percy comfortable, warm and well cared for.
- Give him his medication as instructed
- Take him for a short walk every other day, keeping him on his lead when out walking as he is a little less friendly with other dogs than people).
- Feed and check the chickens morning and evening.

Percy can be left alone for up to six hours, as he has access to the fenced garden through his dog flap. We'd prefer someone who enjoys spending time with him and, where possible, takes him along when going out.

Welcome to our home in the French countryside!

Our home is a converted barn which we've lovingly renovated ourselves over the past ten years. It's a cosy, comfortable two-bedroom house with underfloor heating, a wood-burning stove, a modern kitchen and contemporary bathrooms.

The house has:
- Two comfortable bedrooms.
- A modern, well-equipped kitchen.
- A spacious living area with wood-burning stove.
- Underfloor heating.
- Two bathrooms, including an en-suite to the guest bedroom.
- English television via Freesat.
- Wi-Fi.
- Plenty of hot water.
- A swimming pool.
- Free off-street parking.

There is also a small, separate one-bedroom annexe attached to the property, which we lived in while renovating the main house.

Outside, we have a very large, well-fenced garden of approximately 2.5 acres, with a separate fenced orchard where the chickens live.

It's a lovely place to relax, enjoy the outdoors and make yourself at home.
We occasionally travel to the UK to visit family, and are looking for a caring, responsible house-sitter who would enjoy looking after our home and animals while we're away.


Make yourself at home!
We want you to enjoy your stay rather than feel you're simply looking after a property.

You're welcome to use the kitchen, appliances and store cupboard, and help yourself to anything in the freezer. We just ask that you make a note if you finish anything.

We have a double oven, microwave, bread maker and air fryer, and plenty of space to relax.

We simply ask that you treat our home with care, keep it reasonably clean and tidy, and leave everything as you found it.

Above all, we want to find someone who will enjoy our little corner of France and give Percy the love and attention he deserves while we're away.

We're situated just outside Châlus, a small town in the Haute-Vienne department of south-west France. The town is less than 2 km away and has supermarkets, a pharmacy, a health centre, bars and several places to eat.

We are in the beautiful Périgord-Limousin countryside, with plenty of opportunities for walking, cycling and exploring.

There is a nearby lake where we regularly take Percy for walks, as well as a long, flat cycle and walking route along a former railway line.

For day trips, Limoges is approximately 30 minutes away, while Périgueux is just over an hour. Bordeaux is also possible for a longer day out, with a local train connection.

There are several bicycles available if you enjoy exploring on two wheels.

A car is essential, as there is no public transport serving our immediate location.

Our house is in a quiet, short no-through road, with five nearby neighbours who are friendly and helpful and would be able to assist in an emergency.
