Wexford

I am lucky to say this is my second time housesitting in their comfy home just a short walk from the cozy Irish village of Blackwater in County Wexford. The home sits on a large parcel of land and provides country living less than a kilometer from the village with all your basic needs. Everything was in order for my arrival, including a massive supply of firewood which turned out to be a real necessity. They compiled a book with all the necessary information. My room was comfy and had all the storage and closet space I needed. Do note that a rental car is a real necessity for this housesit. There is bus service into the largest local city of Wexford but if you wish to visit the area a car is needed. I also must say I felt uncomfortable walking the very narrow roads that had little or no shoulder (although the walk into the village has a sidewalk 90%% of the way). Peter and Emily had some bad luck on this trip. A broken pipe in the heating system required us to work together on resolving. Then bad weather delayed their ferry return by almost a week. In the end, all was well. My only regret in the stay was I was unable to say goodbye due to the delay caused by the cancelled ferry. I had to leave before their return. If you have an opportunity, you would enjoy meeting these two and caring for their comfy, contemporary home with all the comforts you'd expect.

My stay at Peter & Emily's was my first Nomador experience. I don't believe I could have found better folks or a more well-suited home. They prepared well for my stay and left behind all the information needed to care for their dog Megan & their home and make the most of my seven weeks at their residence. I had a very useful 2-day stay in their home before they left on their extended trip. We maintained contact throughout the the trip and I received very quick responses on the few occasions I needed to contact them. Their house is a very tidy, contemporary single-floor home with an excellent, roomy kitchen. It was quite easy to care for. The grounds are about 3 acres with two hoops houses used to keep their green thumbs happy :). The house is located less than a kilometer from the sleepy village of Blackwater where you'll find a few restaurants, a few pubs, and two grocers that will have your basic grocery, butcher, and bakery needs. An inter-village bus stop is only 100 meters away but I would advise renting a car for your stay. Rental rates were surprisingly inexpensive. Their are a significant number of attractions to visit in County Wexford, even if you stay during the off-season winter months as I did. Daytime trips to Kilkenny, Glendalough, and Waterford are all easly do-able. I highly recommend an experience at Peter & Emily's.
