We have a very elderly Siamese cat, who likes to lounge around the house a lot. His companion passed away last year and although the neighbour usually feeds him, we don't feel comfortable leaving him for three weeks without ongoing company.
He's a slightly fussy eater, but apart from that, he's no trouble. We would like someone who could give him a little love and affection every day, feed him in the morning and the evening and make sure he has fresh water (his obsession), and just to be here during the night so he doesn't get lonely. There's no need to be in during the daytime, or even to be home early at night, it's just an ongoing presence and company that we are interested in, rather than him only seeing the neighbour for a few minutes a day.
If you remember to water the plants every few days too, great!!

Haus

A large old building with a winding marble staircase, set in the heart of the old centre of Cartagena, next to many heritage sites such as the Roman forum, and a short walk from the sea. The beach is a 6-minute drive, you can also walk or cycle there.
A leafy plaza at the end of our street hosts many different cultural events, and there is a wide selection of bars, cafés, bistros and tapas to choose from. All amenities are within a stone's throw, and most of the surrounding streets are pedestrian. You can get fresh bread from a number of bakeries close by, and there's a fresh vegetable, meat and fish market 500m away.
The apartment has large balconies, high ceilings and dates back to the 1890's.

As books lovers, there are plenty of books here in both Spanish and English. We also have a record collection and record player. If someone is particularly interested, we can provide a guitar!

We have installed ceiling fans in the living room and bedroom. The kitchen is small but well equipped with a thermomix, nutribullet and other applicances.

We live in the city centre where life is easy, everything is close by. During the warm summer months people spend a lot of time and the beach or relaxing during the day and then the place comes alive after the sun goes down, with many people going out for some nice food and wine or a stroll along the marina. If you drive, there are numerous beaches you can get to in 15-20 minutes, if not, there is a bus or you can cycle or walk to the nearest beach.
The closest airport is San Javier, 20 minutes away, and there's also Alicante, which is 70 minutes away. The bus and train stations are both a 10-minute walk from our apartment.

Tourismus und Freizeit

Cartagena is renowned for the Roman remains which are abundant here, including the amphitheatre which is just 5 minutes away, the Forum which is behind our building, and many other smaller sites which are open to the public.
Being on the sea, there are plenty of watersports available. There is an electric train which runs to the Mar Menor, a huge natural saltwater lagoon where you can waterski, sail and SUP. Cabo de Palos is an internationally famous diving site, and is just 20 minutes by car, 30 by bus.
There is an immense gastronomic offer here, with many small and inexpensive places to enjoy the local cuisine, based on the Mediterranean diet.
Although less recommendable in summer due to the heat, there are also plenty of walking routes in the surrounding hills.
The beaches at Calblanque are a little harder to reach but worth it, as the whole area is a nature reserve and very beautiful.
