We have 2 dogs; Harry who is a golden retriever and Jack who is a Jack Russell. Harry is very friendly and Jack generally is but can be a bit grumpy with other dogs so is normally kept on a lead when walked. Jack is also grumpy if accidentally trodden on (as I have done occasionally!). The house sit is probably therefore not suitable for families with young children unless parents are prepared to be keep a muzzle on Jack until the children go to bed.

The dogs like a walk every day, particularly Harry who loves the beach and the sea! However, it doesn't always have to be a long walk. The dogs need letting out during the day but can be left for up to 6-7 hours at a time. If our house sitter needed to occasionally be away for longer than this we could sort something out so that they could be left for longer occasionally.

We also have 2 cats, both of whom are friendly and love a fuss. We have a cat flap so they can come and go as they please.

Haus

Semi-detached Victorian house with lovely views of the Exe estuary and the Haldon Hills beyond. Well decorated with modern kitchen and bathroom. Small balcony overlooking the long garden, again with Estuary views. 5 minute walk to Exmouth town centre and 10-15 minute walk to beach, marina and estuary.

We have 2 bicycles that house sitters are welcome to use (as long as they are looked after of course!). There are several well used cycle routes nearby.

The house is easy to live in and look after. We have Sky TV (entertainment package and Sky Atlantic only) and Netflix as well as high speed internet. It's easy to walk to town and the beach/estuary (alfthough it does involve a 10 minute uphill walk on the way back) and there are lots of local pubs, cafes and restaurants.

Tourismus und Freizeit

There is lots to see and discover in the Exmouth region. Exmouth has a 2 mile long beach and offers the usual beach activities as well as water sports such as sailing, wind surfing and kiteboarding. It is also at the western end of the Jurassic Coast and offers good walking opportunities both along the coast and inland and bird watching (seasonal) along the Estuary.

The picturesque village of Budleigh Salterton is 5 miles from Exmouth and the Georgian town of Sidmouth is only 12 miles. The historic city of Exeter is 11 miles away and can be reached either by car or a 30 minute train ride. Exeter offers very good shopping, restaurants and cafes, also cinemas and regional theatre. Further afield are Dartmoor and Exmoor (both about 45 minutes by car), Plymouth and the surfing coast of North Devon (both about 60 miles away). Torbay and Paignton Zoo are roughly 30 miles.

Soldiers Point, Australia - April 2019

This was our first ever Nomador Stopover, and we made our request at very short notice. Sue, the home owner, could not have been any more hospitable. She replied within a short time and we were greeted warmly upon our arrival and shown through the home, which was very cosy. Sue and her husband provided a very nice meal for us, which was very much appreciated after a long drive. Conversation was easy and we all enjoyed recounting travel stories and getting to know each other over dinner. After dinner we were made to feel at home and invited to join them in the front sitting room, however we were just too tired and ended up retiring to our room. The bedroom was very comfortable and had a nice view out over the estuary. It also had its' own shower and basin. We want to thank Sue and her husband Alan for a very enjoyable and comfortable night's stopover, especially at such short notice.
