We have 3 cats: Merlin, a sterilized male 14 year old domestic longhair and 2 sterilized, female Maine Coons (Jasnah, 5 and Malta, 3 years old). The cats require 2 meals of wet or raw food each day, roughly 12 hours apart and need to be separated or supervised while eating. If its convenient, the oldest cat receives a midday meal of wet food (This isn't a strict requirement, if you aren't around the house during the day it can be skipped). Merlin has IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease) and is on a restricted diet. He also requires a topical medication every 2-3 days and accepts his meds easily. The cats need 1 daily play session of 15-20 minutes, in which mostly the youngest , Malta, plays while the others watch. They get a 'toss the treat' session after play. The two girls know several tricks. The Maine Coons enjoy hanging out with you a bit more than your average cat but are fairly low maintenance. We recently moved to a beautiful, modern home in the Asturian countryside. The house is a spacious 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom house with an extra large kitchen, large living room, office/workout space, laundry room and garden/outdoor space. The house is private, surrounded by trees and greenery and located 8 minutes drive to a small town with all of the necessities, or 15 minutes to larger grocery stores, 25 minutes to Oviedo and 30 minutes to Gijon. There are plenty of beaches 30-60 minutes drive and mountains in a 1 hour drive.

The kitchen is very well equipped, with a wide variety of spices and small appliances for cooking. We have a small collection of cookbooks, books, puzzles and games. There is fast internet via Starlink and office space if you need to work.

The house is in the countryside and surrounded by pasture land. It is very tranquil, with only the noises of birds and the faint bells from the neighboring cows. The surrounding trees offer plenty of privacy and greenery. A car is a must for getting around from our house. There is a rural restaurant 3.5 km distance from the house. Otherwise, the closest small town is 6.6 km away. Oviedo is 17 km and Gijon 30 km. OVD airport is 30 minutes drive/30 km.

Asturias is an amazing province for nature and outdoor activities. Located in the area known as Green Spain, its cool and temperate climate makes for pleasant and warm temperatures in the summer but not excessive heat. It rains often in Asturias. While the house is in the countryside, both Oviedo and Gijon are within a 30 minute drive. Oviedo was awarded the Spanish Capital of Gastronomy for 2024. There are several museums and historical sites to check out in the area. There are plenty of outdoor opportunities, with hiking, biking and walking routes in the area. The ocean and beaches are also 30-45 minutes drive.

Lauren and Charles had been very kind, their house is very beautiful, super organized and clean. The house is also in a central position, so it is easy to reach everything you need. They made sure we had everything we could possibly need and they were very friendly. The kitties are very cute, easy to take care and so cuddly and playful. It was a real pleasure taking care of them. I would recommend them to anyone.
