My dog sitting Ripley was a tremendous, to-good-to-be-true immersive experience into a peaceful and sound environment, every day from day one. I was happy without a car and could manage to be independent, though I have one of my best friends on the island who could help me in case a vet visit was needed or an emergency was occurring, for example. Ripley is a sweet, adorable, gentle soul. She's easy around the house and outside, as she's so well trained and educated, and of a quiet nature. She responds to commands, makes eye contact (I'm melting just by the thought of it). She understands and loves it when there's a hike or a swim ahead, for which she can totally be off leash, except along the road. She's reliable, no stress at all. She's laid back and enjoys presence, attention and play time, likes to follow you and be around, but is never invasive. She did a "whaf!" twice over a month! Her routine is smooth. Connie and Ken go out of their ways to make things clear, easy and fun. They are welcoming, high spirited, available and responsive. I found written instructions precious, made good use of a bike left at my disposal, had access to the full house and enjoyed the awareness that goes along with taking good care of it. Trust was felt on both sides, and I felt at home on Pender. The house is surrounded by nature, mature trees, beautiful landscaping, hummingbirds, deers... overlooking the ocean. Days can be rainy, misty, cloudy or sunny, each brings enjoyment. I'm gonna miss Ripley's serene world and presence, her tilting her head in excitement when she knows something fun is at stake, and I can only hope that I'm her sitter again. The wonder I've experienced doesn't feel it could ever fade.
