This is a place for lovers of animals and nature. We need a responsible person or couple who can take care of the many animals, plants and the living area. Because of this and the fact that the house is built on a slope, a good physical shape is needed.
In exchange, we offer the opportunity to live in the middle of nature, in a comfortable house with a swimming pool, with utility expenses covered & a car.
The house has 2 wings, one for the sitters, one for us and our occasional visitors.

THE ANIMALS
If you are not an animal lover, this place is not for you: 3 donkeys, a dog, 7 cats, chickens and pigeons live at the house. More animals may come as this is a place chosen and arranged for this purpose.
The resident animals and the house need human presence. Daily long absences (such as having an outside job) are not compatible with this place; remote work or retirement, yes!

THE PLANTS
Watering and general care needed, more in summer, far less in winter, details to be discussed.
THE GARDEN
The dripping system for the watering of the garden needs periodic turning on/of

THE HOUSE
The living area should be kept clean. If anything malfunctions we should be notified to find a solution.
No parties are allowed, other than having a few people on the terrace.
If you have visitors staying overnight we should be notified.
If you need to be absent overnight we need to know in advance so we can arrange for someone to take care of the premises in your absence
No cryptocurrency mining allowed
Organic residues should be composted
The detergents should be biodegradable

THE SWIMMING POOL
The pool is heated between May and September. Some periodic maintenance is needed.

WHAT DO POTENTIAL HOUSE SITTERS NEED TO CONSIDER BEFORE APPLYING?
We care deeply about our animals and plants and are looking for someone who can help us stay close to them. You have to be an animal lover, we cannot stress that enough.

THE OTHER WING OF THE HOUSE:
Sometimes we occupy the other wing of the house (a few weeks at a time) and, rarely, friends of ours spend their vacation there (a week or two, or just one night). There is no requirement for the sitters to leave the premises, as their space is not needed, but one has to understand that, sometimes, they are not alone at the house. A reasonable sharing of the common premises (patio, swimming pool, kitchen and garden) is expected.

These dates are flexible. I will be at the property until about June 20th (unless the fuel shortage does not affect my plans). Ideally I would like to overlap with the new sitter(s) for a few days to make the transition smoother.

This is a very quiet place, in the surroundings of Velez de Benaudalla, in the middle of a 5 ha orchard, with views to Sierra Nevada Mountains, 5 min drive to the village, 20 min drive to the sea and 40 min drive to Granada
Winters are mild (but windy at times), summers are hot and dry
The village is well located for day trips: Granada is at 40 min drive, Malaga at 1h30, Salobreña at about 25
The house is in a location that is quite isolated from the village, but at the same time has good access to it either on foot (25 minutes) or by car (5-10 minutes)

We had a wonderful six-month stay and truly loved every moment of this unique experience. The home is a beautiful, peaceful sanctuary—perfectly comfortable and equipped with everything needed to feel right at home. Caring for the diverse group of animals, including the donkeys, chickens, cats, and Danka the dog, was a complete joy and became a highlight of our daily routine. This is a dream sit for true animal lovers; we spent many happy hours bonding with the cats and taking Danka for beautiful walks through the surrounding hills. The owners are truly wonderful, and we are so grateful for the deep friendship we formed with them. They are clear communicators who appreciate seeing the joy their animals bring to sitters through photos and updates. The location offers the best of both worlds: total rural peace with a charming, lively village just a short walk away. We loved walking Danka and, occasionally even the donkeys, into town, visiting the local market, and enjoying the friendly community. Danka is welcome at many local restaurants! The organic garden and fruit trees provided a rewarding harvest, and we enjoyed the rhythmic nature of life on this working farm. We highly recommend this experience for anyone who enjoys being active in nature and providing attentive, heart-centered care to animals

Merida, Mexico - Dezember 2025

I could not be happier about having stayed here. It has been a blessing, truly. My days have been full of peace and joy, looking at this mountains and spending time with these animals. It’s quite an opportunity to spend time with donkeys as well; I’ve learnt them to be therapeutic. Chickens and roosters are funny in their own way; their chirps and yoodles liven up the place. I would bet this is the prettiest house in the whole area. Far enough from town to feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere, but a 20 min walk will bring you the market, shops and everything you need. Also, there’s a restaurant that happens to be where I’ve eaten best in all my Spain travels. Walking around in nature has also been such a treat, Danka the dog and a couple of the cats following along. It’s so beautiful around here! 360 around the house you can do great hikes. The house is gorgeous, not to mention cozy and comfortable. Olga and Adrián have done a fantastic job renovating the property, which I believe is more than 100 years old. And even though I’m traveling by myself, I felt super safe staying in the house. I am so happy to have had Adrián as my host, really. He always wanted to know how I was feeling, if I needed anything, and just taking great care of me. He’s very grateful for having people looking out for his loved ones. He has an absolute passion for cats and a big love for animals and nature in general. This also reflects in the house plants and the wide variety he has collected. Amazing, amazing times here.

Tours, France - Oktober 2025
