Needs and animals

Pet-sitting | Many plants | 1 Dog | 4 Cats

I have two Siamese cats (ages 8 and 12 yrs), Scottish Straight (4 yrs) and an American Shorthair Exotic ( 5 yr) as well as a trained 3-year old German Shepherd. The cats and dog get along fine! My cats like interaction and they are very social. They will often keep you company. My dog likes to be around the hub of the house - wherever the people are, he is there. If he is not traveling with me, he will need two walks a day. I have plants and they will need weekly watering.

I would like sitters to come a day or two early (possible Oct 14-15) before my departure and be here the day of my arrival/or a day after (Oct 24-25), if possible. Thanks!

The centro histórico is only 4 km away. Uber is widely used here and it’s reasonable. Airport is Las Américas International Airport (SDQ) and it is 35km/22 miles away which roughly equates to one hour’s drive to the city. You can reserve a ride with Uber in advance at Las Americas International Airport up to 30 days before your flight. Approximately a cost of DOP$3000 (US$50). I personally use Transporte Sheila because they are prompt, safe, and very reliable. Reservations and payments can be made in advance online at [email protected] They will communicate with you via WhatsApp (+1 (849) 314-2007) just before the trip with the driver and private van information. The one-way trip is DOP$2100 Dominican pesos. Transporte Sheila also does day tour trips to any location on the island.

Patricia was a great host! Four amazing cats all with their own unique personality and Nilo, the gentle giant German Shepherd who has been one of my favourite dogs so far! I got food poisoning shortly into my stay and Patricia made sure I had the food and drink needed to regain my strength. Patricia’s apartment is great and I was aided by the help of a cleaning person which I really appreciated. Communication was seamless and I highly recommend this pet sit wherever Patricia’s travels take her.

It was a very interesting house sitting. Patricia is a remarkable personality, very kind and accommodating. She invited me to arrive a few days in advance if it was possible for me. I did that. I was also allowed to stay for a few days afterwards. I would like to thank you again for that. What was agreed was to look after her 4 cats. (They have different personalities and there is a hierarchy.) What overlapped was the arrival of her German Shepherd. This caused some unrest in the hierarchy among the animals. It looks like things have calmed down now. The apartment is very cleverly located. I felt safe in the area. There are many restaurants and shopping options. It's not far to the beach either (you can't swim there). The room offered to me was also very nice. At the time I was there there was a cleaning lady. The only disadvantage the apartment has is that it is very noisy in the living area because it is on a busy street.

Patricia was fantastic to sit for. She was welcoming, helpful and generous. She kept in touch and nothing was too much trouble for her. I enjoyed her company. The cats were lovely too, especially Kiku who kept me company. Highly recommended!
