We're located on the west side of El Centro, close to Plaza San Sebastian. Cuenca is a great walk around city, so we don't own a car. We walk or take a bus for most of our destinations. We are 6 blocks from Parque Calderon and the New and Old Cathedral. There are 2 mercados close by as well as several tiendas and restaurants. Temperatures range from low 50s in winter to high 80s in the summer. Remember we're on the equator so the seasons are reversed, July through September are our winter months.

Cuenca is the 3rd largest city in Ecuador, located in the Andes Mountains (about 8,500 feet). It's called the Athens of Ecuador and has 52 churches, one for each week of the year. There are some Inca ruins on the east side of the city and the largest Inca ruins (Ingapirca) is about an hour away.

Michael and Cheri are warm and helpful hosts. They have a beautiful, comfortable home in the heart of Cuenca. Everything you could need is within walking distance. They even took the time to show us their favorite restaurants, vendors, and markets around the city before they left. Michael and Cheri did a wonderful job of explaining the hows of caretaking their home. They were candid about their needs and expectations and answered all of our questions, both before we arrived and during our time together at the beginning of the stay. We take our responsibilities as sitters very seriously, and their approach made it very easy to do our job. They even have a "user manual" for the house! We have not had, nor can we imagine, a more perfect house-sitting opportunity. By far the best experience we've had. We would go back in an instant.
