Needs and animals

Pet-sitting | Animals with specific needs | 3 Cats

We are looking for someone to look after our cats while we are on holiday ourselves. The cats come from the shelter and have had bad experiences with people. They are friendly but reserved and partly don't want to be touched because they are still too scared (the two tabby cats). They also don't like noise and bustle and prefer quiet people. Unfortunately, the cats are not yet well behaved, i.e. they sometimes jump on the table or in the bed. If this bothers you, you should close the door. The cats should be fed at least twice a day. They are also allowed outside and usually come back by themselves at 11 pm at the latest when you are out in the evening. They should not be locked out, however, because there is no cat door.

House

The flat is in an old building in the heart of the historic old town of Colmar. Although it's a flat, it's actually almost a whole house, because no one else lives there and there are only boutiques on the ground floor. The flat is spacious on two floors. It has high ceilings and coloured walls. Unusual for Colmar is the large balcony that faces a quiet courtyard. Here you live undisturbed and quietly and yet in the immediate vicinity of bars, restaurants, boutiques, shops and supermarkets. At Christmas time, Colmar is transformed into a fairytale setting with a Christmas market that is famous throughout France. All the houses are beautifully decorated. It's high season.

Colmar is one of the main tourist destinations in the beautiful wine region of Alsace in eastern France. It is manageable in size and has a medieval old town full of shops, bars and restaurants that is well worth seeing. Here you can stroll through the narrow streets and experience French savoir-vivre! The "route du vin" begins behind Colmar, a series of tourist wine villages worth seeing, some of which can also be reached by bike (Eguisheim, Kaysersberg, Riquewihr). Within 40 minutes by train are the tourist cities of Strasbourg with its fantastic cathedral and Basel in Switzerland. If you have or rent a car, you can take great trips to the Vosges (45 minutes bathing lakes in the forest, beautiful hikes) or drive to Germany to Freiburg or the Black Forest (1 hour). Colmar itself also has a beautiful small, albeit man-made bathing lake (base nautique) where you can spend a relaxing day on the "beach". The house itself is comfortably furnished. However, the kitchen, bathroom and toilet are rather old and tend to be a bit unmodern, but functional. Visitors should not be bothered by it.

Alsace as a region is rather rural and is ideal for hikers and cyclists. However, the cities in Alsace are well worth seeing, especially Colmar and Strasbourg. The lifestyle there is very relaxed and laid back. There are many bars, restaurants and small shops. Basel in Switzerland is not far either. There are also other things worth seeing in the vicinity that are easier to reach by car: the Ecomusée, for children the "parc du petit price" and "Cigoland" and, of course, on the German side, about an hour's drive away, the Europapark (biggest fun park in Europe) and the water theme park Rulantica. More than enough to see and do for a week or more!
