I have four elderly cats. I like many foreigners here, have collected a few abandoned furry friends over the years. Despite having what seems quite a lot of animals, my house does not feel overrun and they are free to go in and out of the house. I have one cat who takes medication, which is easy to administer and he is on a special diet. The only thing my cats need is food twice a day, water and some loving attention. I am looking for someone who is confident and has good experience with handling cats, just in case there is an emergency and one of them needs to visit the local vet. Having a car might be helpful, but not necessary . A couple of my cats are difficult to handle into a transporter, so please only apply if you experience of handling cats, It is important to me that you are a cat/animal lover and that you are willing to spend some of your time with them. I also look after a couple of local street cats very close to my house and I would ask whoever stays to ensure …

House

This stayover is most suited to an individual or a couple. I live in a 2 floored duplex which is within a block of apartments. The duplex is in the popular holiday town of Sitges around a 35 minute drive/train ride to Barcelona city. I have a bright and comfortable home with a small garden at the rear. I live around a 10 minute walk to the town and the train station. The beach is about a 15 to 20 minute walk. There are local supermarkets within 5 to 10 minutes walking and a pool and gym around a 2 minute walk away. Everything is within walking distance.

I have wifi and many books, many of which are in my professional field Psychology/Therapy /Spirituality. I am close to the gym and pool which has a spa area. I am also close to some local bars and supermarkets and a short walk to the town and beaches. Also it is easy to go into Barcelona city from my home via autobus, train or in the car. The house only has aircon in my bedroom but I have fans.

My home is a duplex with bright decor. t has a decent sized lounge and kitchen and I have a small very green garden with a terrace. The bedrooms are upstairs and I do not think for this reason it would be suitable for people with mobility issues. The house has wifi, however, I do not watch terrestrial TV but I do have Amazon Fire connected to a TV screen.

Sitges is a very popular place to visit. It is viewed as an exclusive pretty town commuter distance from Barcelona. It is known for being a cultural town, with lots of shops and restaurants, beaches, art and some museums and it has a lot of fiestas throughout the year. There is always things to do here and the weather is sunny most of the year around. It is close to all of the life in Barcelona too.

Ne vous laissez pas intimider par le nombre de chats, à la fois présents au niveau des jeux et des câlins et très indépendants, ils naviguent à leur guise du duplex au jardin sans poser de problème. L'appartement-maison de Denise baigne dans une ambiance feng shui qui favorise le bien-être tout en étant à une quinzaine de minutes à pied du bouillonnant et charmant centre de Sitges (musées, galeries d'art, plages, gare, restaurants, magasins de vêtements, d'artisanat et de bouche, supermarchés...). Charme et dépaysement garanti à proximité de Barcelone, facilement accessible en train, en bus et en voiture. Cerise sur le gâteau, le stationnement gratuit sur un parking situé à deux pas de la maison.

Denise is a wonderful woman in every way. She is also a perfect host: caring, kind, funny, intelligent, empathetic.... She did everything in her power to make me feel at home: she came to pick me up at the station to help me with my bags, she had delicious food prepared to share with me, she took me in the car to do my shopping for the week, she spent the afternoon getting to know us and explaining the dynamics of her beautiful cats and her home... It felt like a meeting between friends, that's the magic of housesitting. Denise's cats are a source of love and are very well behaved. Each one has a different personality, but they are all affectionate, easy going and calm. Being with them brings a lot of peace of mind. They are also exquisitely polite and you don't have to worry about them breaking things or getting into mischief. Finally, the house is a dream: big and bright, a real ode to Mediterranean light. It is comfortable, beautiful, practical, landscaped, and beautifully decorated. Maybe someone thinks that 5 cats are a lot of cats, but in this spacious house and with such nice cats, I promise you that everything is very easy and organic and cosy. In short, I can only thank Denise for all her love and confidence, I was like a queen in her house, and with an unbeatable cat company!!

Denise left good instructions on how to care for the cats, and directions to shops, transport and attractions. Her home was clean and comfortable and well equipped, walking distance to the Old Town and beaches. The cats stayed home more as they got used to me and had unique personalities that one could become fond of, and were nice company.
