Pet-sitting | 2 Cats

Hi there! I'm headed out of town for a week in June (6/18-6/25) and would love to have someone stay with my two sweet kitties, Gigi (short for Giovanna, the gray one) and Kitten (the tabby, legal name Samwise, responds to neither). They have automatic food and litter, so other than making sure those are full and empty, respectively, and that they have fresh water, I really just want someone to hang out with them so they don't get sad and lonely. They are very friendly (if a bit shy for a few hours) and playful, and when they're not chasing each other, they're hugging in their sleep. They both love to cuddle and will sleep with you if you let them. My biggest ask is to make sure they get lots of attention, and to send me lots of pictures so I don't miss them too much! There’s no housework to be done other than maybe a quick vacuum every few days to stop litter from tracking and just general cleaning up after yourself. We keep clean a clean house and hope you will do the same while you're staying here. We have free laundry just through the back …

We have free laundry just through the back hallway- there are two sets of laundry machines shared among four units, so we generally can do laundry whenever we need to.

Additional information about these dates

My partner and I are flying out the evening of 6/17 and returning the morning of 6/26. It would be nice for you to arrive the morning of 6/17 so I can show you around the house and you can meet the cats, but if you need to arrive a bit later, that's understandable. Unfortunately, an earlier arrival won't work. The cats are okay to be by themselves for a day-ish, so your arrival and departure can be a bit flexible in that way.

House

1920s Tudor-style brick building. There are five units in the building, and each has its own entry. It's old and has the charm to show for it, but the kitchen and bathroom have been remodeled and there is new flooring so it still feels clean. It sits halfway into Queen Anne Hill, so between that and the brick/stone material, it stays very cool in the summer. There's plenty of parking (we have a guest past since it's zoned parking), and the neighbors are very easygoing folks. There's one other apartment building on the street, and the rest are residential homes, so it's a pretty quiet street.

I've a few hundred books that you are welcome to read while you're here (please don't take them!), as well as a few puzzles and games. We have all the normal TV subscriptions, but as long as the weather is nice, we generally go out for a walk as there's usually something going on nearby.

The street is cobblestone and very steep, and there are few steps down to get in, so if you have mobility issues, it could be tricky. Gigi and Kitten are almost always waiting at the door to greet me whenever I get home. Other than when they're chasing each other, it's pretty quiet and peaceful. There's a little shared courtyard on the back side of the building, although it's so close to Seattle Center (about two blocks to the edge of the park) that I typically go there if I want to spend time outdoors. Seattle Center holds the Kraken Stadium and the Space Needle, as well as a ton of museums and other attractions. There are half a dozen coffee shops within a 5-10 minute walk (my favorite is Hagen), several grocery stores (Metropolitan Market is at the bottom of the block along with Bartell's, and QFC and Trader Joe's are about a half mile away), and lots of pubs and varied restaurants (just about every kind of food). My home is conveniently located two blocks away from the Opera House and Ballet, and within walking distance of the Space Needle and the Kraken Stadium. I prefer to travel by bus if I'm going downtown as parking and traffic can be a bit tricky. We're about twenty minutes away from the airport, and fifteen from the Amtrak station. There are several beautiful beaches in Seattle, including Golden Gardens and Alki. I love Seattle's museums; some of my favorites are SAM, MOPOP, MOHAI, and the Wooden Boat Museum. There's a farmer's market that takes place on weekends just up the hill (it's very steep but fairly short), and the food scene on Queen Anne Ave offers all kinds of delicious food (French, Italian, Mexican, Thai, Vietnamese, New American, Japanese, Mediterranean, etc). There are plenty of beautiful places nearby to experience nature, both in the city and outside.
