As a couple/duo
We are Antonia and Sebastian, a couple in our late-thirties. We work remotely, which means we are genuinely present in the home during the day and available to the animals we are looking after.
House-sitting fits naturally into how we prefer to travel: calmly, with time to get to know a place properly, and with animals around to make it feel like home.
We have lived with animals our whole lives: dogs (including large and small breeds), cats, birds, tortoises, and ducks. From an early age, we were also involved in rescuing and rehabilitating wild birds and small mammals, so we are comfortable with animals in fragile or unusual situations.
We are particularly fond of cats and dogs. With cats, we understand that trust is earned: if they want space, they get it; if they eventually choose to curl up on us at midnight, that is always on their terms. We follow the animal's lead, not our own preferences.
We have cared for two elderly chihuahuas belonging to the same owner in Oxford, regularly over more than a year. Their needs require patience, careful observation, and stable routines. Older animals need comfort and consistency more than stimulation, and we provide both.
We are reliable with routines, careful with instructions, and proactive in communication. If anything unexpected arises, we communicate immediately. We are tidy, respectful, and calm in a home; owners have consistently thanked us not only for caring for their pets, but for the condition in which we left their home.
Between us, we speak English, Spanish, German, and Italian, which allows us to communicate easily across much of Europe and read a vet note in a pinch.
We enjoy reading, cooking, playing guitar, photographing plants and birds, and taking long walks. We are comfortable with quiet. Hosts tell us we are easy to have around, and that is something we genuinely value.
