We have an eighteen year old black cat called Ezra. In the past we have just had people drop in to feed him but as he has gotten older, while not an overly social cat, it is clear he does not like to be alone. He is a gentle cat, never agressive in any way. He is rather greedy, and gets fed four time a day (though of course you can leave food during the day, no need to stay in because he is a greedy guts!). He loves to be petted, but you have to go to pet Monsieur in HIS chair. He has a few ailments but overall is in pretty good shape for a puss of his age.

We can leave late afternoon on the 11th so ideally we would want someone to arrive that morning or early afternoon so we can meet and give you keys etc. Ideally we would like someone for the two weeks but we are also prepared to consider a week if we cannot find someone to do two.

Bright, sunny two bedroom apartment on the fourth floor overlooking the water, 15 minutes walk from Gent's beautiful city centre. We have a large sitting/dining room, a small galley kitchen, two bedrooms (one with sofa bed used as a study), a shower room and separate toilet. There is a lift.

Medieval Gent is one of Europe's most beautiful cities. Almost fully pedestrianised, and organised around two rivers and a canal, it is the perfect city to walk around and soak up the history and the atmosphere. It has an opera house, concert venues, museums, art galleries, tons of restaurants, cafes and bars. It is a hop skip and a jump on the train for day trips to Brussels, Antwerp and Bruges.

I spent about two weeks like a weekend with Ezra, a very endearing pépère (quiet oldy buddy) even if not really a lap cat. His routine, well explained in Caroline’s very detailed home book, is easy to follow and Ezra knows how to reward his home-sitter with approving purrs. No cosier way to discover this superb city of Ghent where you can walk to everywhere from Caroline and Jean’s confortable flat with incredible views on both sides including the old towers. I am so grateful for their trust and valuable advice on visiting their beloved home town. It's so unfair to only award them three badges, they deserve so much more.
