Needs and animals

Animals with specific needs | Many plants | 2 Dogs

The dogs are 4 years old, siblings. Their names are RayneBo and SunShyne.
They are a mix of Dutch Kooikerhondje x Stabyhoun breeds.

Both love cuddles and playtime, and are very friendly.
They need:
1. Food twice a day (around 7:30-8:00 and 19:00-19:30)
2. Three walks ~15-20 mins, morning anytime between 7:30-8:30, afternoon between 15:50-16:30 and night anytime between 21:00-22:30.

For longer stays other than the summer months, the dogs will need a long walk/ hike every 3-4 days to burn their energy, because they will be skipping their usual mantrailing and other training sessions.

Special needs:
* Dental sticks OR some kibble between meals because of gastric reflux (We have a programmed auto-feeder)
* Experience with reactive dogs is helpful; one of the dogs gets nervous near unknown dogs.
* One of them reverse sneezes but prior experience is not necessary. We can show you how to stop this very easily.
* Another dog is anxious and gets stressed when it is windy outside; but prior experience is not necessary. We have a ThunderShirt and earmuffs and will show you how to put these on.

* The dogs can stay alone for long, but we prefer that they aren’t left alone overnight or for over 5 hours at a time.

Plants:
For stays shorter than 4-7 days depending on the time of the year, you do not need to do anything.
For longer stays, the plants need watering once a week.
In peak summer, they need watering every every 3-4 days.

Tourism and Leisure

The historical Old Town, Lac Leman & it's famed Jet d’eau, the L'Horloge Fleurie in Jardin Anglais are iconic spots in Geneva, and well known to tourists. Some not so conventional options: 1. Geneva is home to the CERN headquarters (European Organization for Nuclear Research). 2. For watch enthusiasts, the local watchmaking industry started in the mid-16th century, and Geneva is currently home to a number of luxury watchmakers, Rolex, Chopard, Patek Philippe and Omega to name a few. 3. Following true Swiss diplomacy, a lot of international organizations are headquartered here. The Nations quarter hosts the United Nations, the Broken Chair, Red Cross, WHO, to name a few of them. 4. Jardin Botanique, parc Ariana, Chateau de Penthes, Perle du Lac can also be found in the Rive Droite side. 5. Lac Leman also has some lovely beaches for the summer, with the most popular "Plage" next to Parc La Grange. 6. There are a lot of highly rated museums which offer free entry on the first Sunday of all months. 7. Other than the tourist tram, we also recommend taking a boat (traditional yellow mouettes on the lake or kayaking on the Rhone in the warmer months. 8. The French Saleve and the …

8. The French Saleve and the Jura mountains are very easily accessible.

For easy day trips, we recommend:
1. Nyon and its castle, followed by a boat trip across the lake to the quaint town of Yvoire in France.
2. The Montreux riviera with a stop on the way at the UNESCO site of the Lavaux Vineyards.
3. Mont Blanc/ Aiguille Du Midi peaks in the French town of Chamonix
4. Annecy and Evian-les-Bains are also charming French towns nearby.

Fun fact: It is possible to take the Belle Epoque panoramic train to Interlaken and take the Golden Pass panoramic train back via Montreux on the same day, combining it with a boat trip on either of the Brienz or Thun lakes!

Ray and DJ were wonderful hosts and Rayne and Shyne are lovely, affectionate doggies. We had a great stay at their beautiful apartment which is very handy to the bus stop and shops and a very comfortable place to spend some time. Ray and DJ welcomed us with a delicious lunch and dinner and even stocked the fridge with groceries for our stay. Ray communicated the dogs needs very clearly and responded to any questions we had throughout the stay.

Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, France - January 2026

We were warmly welcomed and very happy to meet Ray and DJ for a second stay at their place in Vernier. Rayne and Shyne are just as adorable as always and we are sure they recognised us from our previous visit! We were able to enjoy the comfortable apartment and discover more of Vernier and the surrounding districts. We look forward to seeing Ray and DJ again sometime soon – such a wonderful couple and pets!

Nancy, France - November 2025
