We have Blue (m) and Suki (f), two beautiful border collies who are very easy to look after. They're happiest after a big walk each morning and plenty of pats and cuddles in the afternoons. We take them on anything from a chill 3km loop of our area, to 12km hikes around the mountains. Just make sure to bring some water for them on the longer walks. We live in Rosano, a beautiful area of Tuscany, surrounded by lots of official hiking trails, signposted by the "rosso-bianco" trail markings. The only thing to be wary of when walking the pups is that Blue can get a little aggressive around other dogs so make sure to keep him on a tight leash if you come across one, other than that, he is very easy. Suki is a little obsessed with cats and tends to pull on her lead a bit more but they have a lovely nature and are great around people and children.

For the rest of the day, they're very happy pottering around the house and garden and will often sleep quite a bit in the day/afternoon. They get fed twice a day, morning and night and sleep …

If you leave the property without them, you will need to ensure the front and back gate are closed securely and that they have plenty of water in their bowls outside. Or you can lock them inside the house if it's for a shorter period of time (2-3 hours).

In terms of house maintenance, just make sure the garden is watered if it hasn't rained in a while, take the bins out when full and keep the house clean and tidy please.

Additional information about these dates

I know this is very late notice but I didn’t realise my destination doesn’t take dogs. You would need your own car on this occasion. It would be best if you could arrive the afternoon/ evening before to get to know our two dogs.

Our home is a beautiful Tuscan stone farmhouse tucked among rolling hills and olive groves. We have a large garden area with beautiful views of the surrounding villages, the nearest being Rosano (1km walk) and Pontassieve (1.5km walk).

Tourism and Leisure

As mentioned before, our home is surrounded by lots of popular hiking trails, perfect for walking the pups. Our back gate opens onto a direct path to the nearest town, only a 10 minute walk. We are also only a short 20-minute drive from Florence, or a 25 minute train ride to Florence from Pontassieve station. Pontassieve itself has supermarkets, cafes, and a cute oldtown.

Nicola and James are absolutely charming and very welcoming hosts; it was a real pleasure to meet them. Their two dogs, brother and sister, are very easy-going and adorable. The typical Tuscan house has a lot of character, and the property, covered with olive trees, offers beautiful views of the Arno Valley. The place is very quiet and relaxing. Magnificent Florence is only 14 km away. What else?
