Needs and animals

Animals with specific needs | 1 Dog

We have a 4 year Fox Red Labrador. She is fed twice a day. She needs at least 2 good walks a day & we take her in the garden for play and for extra toilet visits too.
She is reactive to dogs she doesn't know so we tend to take her where she won't encounter other dogs ( she was a lock down pup before we got her and hadn't been socialised )
There are plenty of places in Shetland to go which meet her needs.
She is very affection and has a lovely nature , is great around children and adults.
She sleeps in her bed besides our bed.
We don't leave her in the house on her own for more than an hour as she gets anxious.
She loves to travel in the car and is happy to be left in the car for short periods while we go shopping or for a coffee!
When I'm away my husband allows her to sleep on the bed!
We live in a community and so our friends may well pop in to make you feel welcome.

Additional information about these dates

We haven't booked yet but intend to leave on the ferry on 10th July and return around 21st July. We like sitters to arrive a day early so you can get to know our dog and the area and we can get to know each other!

House

We live on the westside of Shetland with a stunning view over a voe.
Our house is a bungalow with an open plan kitchen, dining room, living room.

Lots of country walks, some on the doorstep but plenty further away too.
A village 1 mile away ( with a shop/ butcher ) ,another village 3 miles away ( with a shop, post office and fuel pumps ) 7 miles from Scalloway,
8 miles from Lerwick.

We are on a bus route but dogs aren't allowed on the buses. A car is essential to get around and explore and adds far more flexibility.

Tourism and Leisure

Shetland is full of amazing beaches, landscapes , wildlife , fishing , rural shops & community events. It's a wonderful place to live and visit!

We are on the Westside ( the best side!) Eschaness is amazing for it's cliffs and sea stacks. Nothing is far if you have a car.

Home and pet sitting for Anna and Mike was one of the best experiences we've had on Nomador. They invited us into their beautiful home and made us feel extremely welcome. Their dog, Millie, was a blast to look after. You really couldn't ask for a better beach, travel, and all-around companion for exploring Shetland. Shetland is beautiful, and if you have a chance to home and pet sit for Mike and Anna, I recommend that you don't hesitate.
